Keep in mind this is a young author and this is one of their early works (it’s going to be exciting to follow their career! Tatsuki Fujimoto 藤本タツキ (Fujimoto Tatsuki) is a Japanese manga author, mostly known for Chainsaw Man. If you've already watched the anime, the first volume here is virtually identical sans a few minor styling choices and seems to cover episodes 1-3 (well, up to 3/4s of the third episode). He’s very good at an “I can fix her”: from nasty freaks, to sad losers with snot constantly running down their face, to Most Evil Person Alive, to lesbian hitman with demon harem.

Details are packed into every panel, whether in art or dialogue, and you’ll be rewarded the closer you pay attention. In fact, women seem to be drawn and written in this way which isn't a good thing, especially because this is a Shonen Jump series. Meanwhile, sometime after leaving the Public Safety, Denji has now started to go to high school, while he also continues to exterminate devils. The cover depicts Denji transformed into Chainsaw Man cutting through and standing upon a group of Zombie Devil's minions while vast amounts of green blood spray into the air around him. This is an interesting concept - a young man, who has never gone to school or even tasted jam on bread, owes a great debt to many people due to his deceased father's dubious matters. It actually makes me think of Death Note, where women were portrayed as pretty much useless outside of in-the-way or eye candy.

The writing was juvenile at best, the plot was threadbare, the characters were nothing but recycled tropes you'll find in a hundred other manga. I've heard of this manga series a good few times by Joey (The Anime Man) and also, people who like No Guns Life.Of Fujimoto I have read the first volume of Chainsaw Man, the first two volumes of Fire Punch, and just recently Goodbye, Eri. I had no idea what to expect going in since every screencap of Chainsaw Man was always some guy sitting at a table going “oh my GOD her BOOOOOBS?

An anime adaptation by studio MAPPA adapted the first part of the series up to the Katana Man arc in its first season. The manga officially ‘ended’ its first part in late-2020, but thankfully the release date for Part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga series has just been confirmed on social media. Making a blood-pact with a chainsaw demon dog that allows him to transform into a weapon of mass destruction doesn’t exactly make Denji’s life any more easy or normal either. At first it was a pretty good start because we got to explore hpw our main character, Denji got around to being a chainsaw dude in the first place. Everything from expressions and how characters say what they say can inform plot and character development. This is a great introduction to the Chainsaw Man series, combining the everyday trials of a hormonal teenager with the bloodlust of a demon hunter, who has chainsaws protruding from his head and arms.

Now I'm just annoyed the sample wasn't ten pages longer, because then I wouldn't have wasted my money. Its about a guy named Denji and he gets attacked by people and so he leads a miserable life hunting devils when one day he is killed or almost and merges with his pet Pochita and thus begins his life as the Chainsaw devil and working for Makima and meeting Aki and power, the latter whose also a Human-Devil. Chainsaw Man is a lot like Promised Neverland where you don't know who to trust and have no idea why they do the things they do.

The writing is janky and reading this volume makes me feel like it's incomplete - as if I am missing about a hundred pages.
