Description

Creepy house, witches, accidents happening all putting you on the edge of your seat wondering where this will take you. The theme of the family appears in Paula’s narrative as well as in the cases that she works with her team to solve. You are going to want to find out much more about her, such that you will want to begin reading the second book in the series. The protagonist, Helen, is a doctor but also a complete nitwit about everything, including basic health info. The strength of their relationship is now at stake as they face the mysteries lurking within the house.

I don't often flip to the end of books to see if they're worth continuing to read any more, mainly because it's more difficult when you're reading them on Kindle. It is evidently clear that Paula is a troubled character, and from the look of things, something tragic happened in her past, something that she is struggling to forget about.

My favorite character in the entire book had to be Janna - the one who was arrested for murder at the beginning of the book. This is the 30th book, but considering Alex has survived "Kill Alex Cross" before, chances are he survives this one. During renovations, the builders find witch dolls hidden in the walls, and Helen discovers the house has a dark history. This is a hard book for me to rate, as overall I did enjoy it, but there were so many things I didn't like! After a degree in English and French from Oxford University she moved to London and worked in the charity sector.

She grew up in a village where the most exciting thing that ever happened was a herd of cows getting loose in the road. Claire McGowan is a well-established author who penned her first book in her native, Rostrevor when she was only nine years old. So mama dearest Janna has been in jail for a hot minute, and literally, and I mean LITERALLY, pops back up on the scene and au casually says "he needs oxygen!I had been looking forward to another great thriller from McGowan for a very long time, so the fact that I ended up being disappointed AGAIN is just a major bummer. I even stayed up until the early hours of the morning, despite having to get up early for work the next day.
