About this deal

Brightness and contrast uniformity is very good, with the AG274QZM recording consistent results all across the display. The brightness uniformity, in particular, was excellent – the largest deviation was just 5.5% (34 cd/m 2) but the average was below 2% across the majority of the screen. Contrast was also very consistent – a peak of 6.3% was recorded across the rightmost fifth of the display, but this lowered towards the centre and deviation remained below 2% left of the centre. This is all but imperceptible to the naked eye and a superb result for the AG274QZM. The screen in its native mode produces a wide gamut with saturated and vivid colours, and whether you would consider them “accurate” in this mode really depends on your target colour space. There is a very wide colour space extending far beyond the sRGB reference space (145.3% relative coverage). With the large over-coverage in red and green shades especially, you get large errors when viewing sRGB/SDR content (dE 4.8 average) as shown in the top half of the results above. This is common on all wide gamut screens, but its particularly inaccurate here because of the particularly wide colour space. sRGB colours would be considered ‘poor’ in this native mode.

It also sports decent contrast for an IPS panel. Monitors with local dimming zones typically rely on them to boost their contrast rating and can’t compete when it’s turned off. Take the Sony Inzone M9 for example, which dropped from a 1064:1 contrast ratio with local dimming enabled to only 935:1 when it was turned off. That isn’t the case with the AGON PRO, as I measured a respectable 1138:1 contrast ratio without local dimming, a bit better than the standard 1000:1 for these panels. Although the stand is large, it’s very stable, and supports the full range of ergonomic adjustment: Height can be adjusted by 120mm, the display can be tilted -3°/+21°, swivelled -20°/+20°, and pivoted either way into portrait orientation. The swivel is slightly more restrictive than some competing displays, but I never found it to be an issue during my testing. We should note here as well that we measured a super low input lag on the AG274QXM. There was a total display lag of only 1.60ms average, so the screen is perfectly fine for fast paced competitive games if you need. Console Gaming Don’t expect much from the pair of 5W speakers, either. They’re loud, but the sound is muddy and doesn’t have much bass. Use external units or a headset and you’ll have a much better time. Image Quality Although I praised the AGON PRO AG274QZM’s SDR performance, and even though it has 576 dimming zones, I mainly use it with local dimming disabled. One of the most notable complaints with the alienware or LG OLED monitors is that text is blurry. This extends to the LG C2 as well. IMO this is a dealbreaker because being a PC monitor means having text on screen in most cases, often of smaller sizes, and impairing the ability to read that is going to diminish the experience greatly.

Most monitors are not calibrated out of the box and if they are, they are calibrated at the out of the box brightness (typically 250 - 350 nits). Adjusting brightness higher or lower will impact the deltaE. If you care about color accuracy you should be calibrating your display with a measurement instrument regardless after you adjust your display to your desired brightness. Resolution is fine enough to sit at a comfortable distance, around three feet, and experience sharp detail and clarity. Though other form factors are more suitable for gaming, like 21:9 ultra-wides or 43-inch jumbo panels, the 27-inch QHD display is a staple.

The default gamma setting (Gamma 1) was closest to the ideal 2.2 gamma curve, sitting slightly below it, however, this was still a clearly visible deviation when compared with the calibrated profile. You may not be affected and I'm glad you like your monitor but it's something to note for people to consider. Sports mode'... lol. What is this, a showroom and you're the salesman? If you're using those fantastic view modes you're doing it wrong to begin with. With HDR enabled there are 4 modes available in the OSD menu – labelled as DisplayHDR, HDR game, HDR movie and HDR picture. The OSD sections for luminance and colour setup are not available once HDR is enabled sadly, and so you are restricted to the screens default setup Phone outside is a screen that gets brighter especially when it gets hit by direct sunlight or at least, much more ambient light than you would have indoors.
