About this deal

The Salnotes Zero are a neutral bright pair with a thinner note weight than the Wan’er. The Zero sound more sterile and analytical. Treble is nothing to write home about; it’s present and smoothly rolled off, but that’s an area many cheap earphones fail at. Sibilance tests. Here there is no sibilance but no natural sparkle either. It’s a safe presentation and the right choice for an earphone at this price point because while this treble doesn’t wow, not killing my ears is a perfect trait. Better timbre on all instruments, after EQ. Keep in mind the Zero doesn't require EQ. Though if you are obtuse to EQ you'll definitely find everything a little drowned out on the E3000, on a phone without a dedicated DAC/Amp attached.

The cable would be another area to chop dollars, but no, this one is pretty darn nice. Its detachable with a two-pin connector features a weld construction below the splitter before diverging into single strands. Inside, you can see separate strands have been woven, so they haven’t cheaped out here.BASS : Subbass is quite deep, also has great rumble, but HOLA's bass is more focused on the punch rather than rumbly type. Tests were done with a Khadas Toneboard DAC -> Schiit Asgard 3 amp, E1DA 9038, Questyle M15, Colorfly CDA M1, Tempotec Sonata HD Pro (BHD firmware mod), Apple dongle, smartphone, Hiby R3 Pro Saber 2022 DAP, and Sony NW A-55 DAP (Walkman One mod) using FLAC and WAV files. The HOLA is sub- bass focused, and the quantity is north of neutral but not at bonafide basshead levels. Sub-bass extends moderately, with some rumble. The mid-bass isn’t the most emphasized, so the HOLA does not fair that well with mid-bass focused genres such as EDM and hip-hop.

You really can’t critisize much with a nice sounding twenty dollar earphone. Cheaper audiophile IEMs have been an ongoing theme this year, and the Salnotes Zero definitely won’t be the last. For now, I particularly enjoyed the Zero for its great clarity and reliability. A great pic if you’re looking for something affordable with more detail than what is normally warranted. Pros Moondrop ARIA OG : A LOT of people compare the HOLA with the Aria OG (at least in Indonesia), and said HOLA is baby Aria / "Low-Res Aria". The 7Hz Salnotes Zero also has good sound imaging. The sound layering and separation are better than most of the other IEMs I’ve tried at this price point. Better Instrument separation. The Zero's thin instruments, more artifacts can make things sound mashed together at times. This may come as a surprise to some. We assume a more transparent (colder) IEM will have better separation. Timbre sounds more natural on the BL-03, and they are also smoother and less fatiguing in the treble.

Technicalities like detail and imaging are surprisingly good for the price and surpasses contenders like the Chu. Timbre is a bit on the plasticy side, but still more natural than most other budget IEMs. I experienced some annoying sibilance with the included eartips, but this issue was completely rectified by switching to Spinfit CP145 tips.

The Tanya are a warm and bassy set with a bullet-shaped cable-down design. The Tanya are harder to drive and come with a non-detachable cable. I did not find any driver flex on my set. However, this partially depends on ear anatomy and the type of tips used. InternalsThis applies for most countries. However, large items such as headphones and desktop DAC/AMPs (e.g. HarmonicDyne G200, MUSICIAN MDP-2, and etc.) are excluded.
