Thunderbird

Description
Use the ImportExportTools extension (it used to be called the mboximport extension) to import the folders from your old profile. Your folders are stored as mbox files. They are text files with the folders name and no file extension. For example, your inbox folder is "inbox.". You'll notice other files with the folders name and a .msf file extension. Ignore them, they don't have any messages. Your imported messages will appear in the Local Folders account, in a folder called " Apple Mail Import". To do so, use Thunderbird 78 and search for the Enigmail Add-on. You will be offered to install version 2.2.x. Once installed, you can manually access the command "Migrate Enigmail Settings" from Thunderbird's top menu bar, in the Tools submenu. Thunderbird looks in the profiles.ini file to find what profiles you have and where they are. It won't ignore bad entries in that file. If you have only one profile that you care about and you can't recover it delete the profiles.ini file and then follow the instructions on how to move a profile by creating a new profile and copying the contents of the old one over it. Thunderbird will create a new good profiles.ini for you when it creates the new profile. Profiles.ini is stored in the Thunderbird directory above where your profiles are stored by default. For private keys that are stored on a smartcard, please see the separate section about smartcard support.

An alternative to Thunderbird's import wizard is to find a tool to transform your data to mbox format (.mbx), and then use Import Export Tools add-on in Thunderbird to import the mbox files. One such mbox conversion tool for Eudora is Eudora Rescue. Previous versions of Thunderbird (version 68 and before) had built-in S/MIME support, and it was possible to add OpenPGP support using the Enigmail add-on and GnuPG software. The Enigmail add-on is no longer available for Thunderbird 78 except to assist its former users with migrating to the built-in OpenPGP support or getting guidance how to restore their Enigmail “Junior Mode” user experience. Navigate to the .eml files folder. The default location for Windows Live mail is C:\Users\

My public key is very big, because I have many signatures on it. It is too big to include it with every signed message. Go to your file manager and open the Mail (or ImapMail) folder per your affected account type (POP or IMAP). Thunderbird 78 does not provide the junior mode, the built-in OpenPGP feature that Thunderbird 78 provides is more similar to Enigmail's classic mode of operation. Use the profile manager to change the name of your profile to a unique name to prevent this problem from occurring again.Note that public keys and their acceptance settings (for encryption and signature verification) are always handled by Thunderbird's internal code. If you already have a personal OpenPGP key pair from another software, choose Import an existing PGP key. Please note: Thunderbird uses the RNP software for processing keys, which may not yet support certain types of keys. This means that certain keys which are supported by GnuPG / Enigmail may not work with Thunderbird 78 by default, especially some keys with an advanced structure. However, for private keys, you might solve the problem by configuring Thunderbird to use GnuPG, as explained in the next section.

Thunderbird is now part of MZLA Technologies Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mozilla Foundation. Copy all the file without extension (such as Inbox, Outbox,..) into the emplacement used by Thunderbird to store its mail (something like ~/.thunderbird/uk41lql0.default/Mail/Local Folders, where you need to adapt uk41lql0.default to your own installation).Thunderbird is an open source project, which means anyone can contribute ideas, designs, code, and time helping fellow users. If you don't want to install pEp software, you may attempt a manual migration to Thunderbird's new built-in OpenPGP feature. To do so, you must set the configuration that disabled the previous Junior Mode.

It has always been my goal to have OpenPGP support included in the core Thunderbird product. Even though it will mark an end to a long story, after working on Enigmail for 17 years, I’m very happy with this outcome.” Does OpenPGP in Thunderbird 78 look and work exactly like Enigmail? Just the Sieve-Plugin is not yet compatible with the new version, but seems like developer is already working on a fix. This information is important and as a helper in the Support Forum, I’m having to tell people it was not included in the design. No. At this time, Thunderbird uses its own copy of keys, and doesn't support synchronizing keys with GnuPG. The exception is the mechanism offered for smartcards, which could be used to use the personal keys managed by GnuPG.For Eudora, if you have data problems or crashes, try an even older version of Thunderbird and a tool to clean the data. An example of a data cleaning tool for Mac OS is Eudora Mailbox Cleaner.
