Or secretly I want to show off that I can pay attention and learned something… The .5 means that this is an update to just the upper. The midsole and outsole are the same as the Torin 4 Plush. If you liked the previous model, you’ll be happier than a pig in mud. The Good The Altra Torin 5's new midsole foam and a revamped upper homes in on a dialed in, lightweight fit that long-time Altra wearers (and even newbies) absolutely love.Thanks for clearing up the that the Torin 4.0 (non-plush) is gone and only one Torin model exists now, and that’s the Torin 4.5 Plush. UGH! The material holding the tongue down does not cause a problem other than giving the Torin 4.0 a tighter feel when putting the shoe on, but once I start running I don’t notice the material or the tightness at all. That said, this model of the Torin is not for everyone. Altra has revamped the midsole of the Torin 4.0, and in so doing they have removed a small amount (~2mm) of cushioning. The Torin 5 fits true to size. I wear a US men’s 9.5 and the Torin hit the mark exactly. Some extra cushion… Just for you!

Les Altra Torin 4.5 s’adaptent vraiment bien sur des sentiers peu techniques ce qui la rend plutôt polyvalente. Personnellement mes sorties sont souvent sur chemins communaux entrecoupés de petites routes goudronnés, le juste milieu pour ce modèle très souple avec une semelle bien rembourrée. This shoe has gone through many changes and iterations over the years. We had great success with the original Torin at our shop. Altra loves to play around with this model. About 3 years ago, they introduced the Torin Knit to their lineup. There was a little bit of a price difference, and the upper was different.

Technologies

Since this is a .5 update, the midsole and outsole are the same. In this case, that’s not a bad thing. With the Torin 4 Plush, I liked the Quantic midsole. It’s super cushioned and rebounds well. The outsole (which Altra calls Footpod Technology), is covered in full-blown rubber to grip any surface and mapped to the bones and tendons in the foot to help with flex and natural movements.

I’d love to see Altra trim a bit more of cushioning off of this shoe as I’m a fan of fairly minimal amounts of cushioning, but I really can’t complain about this shoe overall.
