A night mode ensures your low light vision doesn't get ruined, and a time travel feature lets you view the sky as it looked in the past, or as it will be in the future. I love that T.E. Hulme poem. I need to look more at his work, as he seems to be one of the principal English parts of the early 20th Century modernist “American Invasion” of English poetry. This is the real life story of one of the most incredible and inspirational young people in the world. Reading this book might just change the way you think and feel. Things started to look very bad. People were being shot, many were punished for saying anything bad against the Kwana and after school one day Ruman decided that he wasn’t going to have it anymore and left to join an underground Rebel movement. Even at night Amina could hear her parents whispering things like: “we’ve got to tell them, sooner or later they’re going to find out”… Just remember this, my girl, when you look up in the sky/ You can see the stars and still not see the light." - "Already Gone," The Eagles

The mobile app features a catalogue of more than 600,000 stars on a zoomable map that can also be used as a viewfinder and star or satellite identifier by pointing your phone up at the night sky. Users can display asterisms and constellations from different cultures, as well as search for artificial satellites.

None of this is essential to know to make sense of the famous line about us all being in the gutter but some of us looking at the stars. But it gives you an idea of the witty and slightly implausible (and faintly farcical) twists and turns of an Oscar Wilde drama. There are many stars and celestial bodies that are very, very far awayfrom us. Therefore, when we look at them through a telescope, or even with our naked eyes (the stars that we see at night), we are actually looking into thepast – more specifically, their past! Looking at the Stars is a book about life in Talas under ‘the glorious leader and his glorious Kwana army’, where women are considered inferior to men and where everyone is forced to wear badges indicating their class. Factor 2: Twilight from the sun — The term twilight is the light from the sun, after the sun has set below the visible horizon. Telling stories was such a simple yet effective way for Amina to help others and it moved me so much the way she was able to connect with others and comfort them just by creating this elaborate story about warriors in the sky. It distracted everyone from reality and it gave them hope and an escape from the perilous times they were currently in. I think this aspect of this book for me was what made me love it even more. Seeing the power of storytelling through Amina reminded me so much of how important having an imagination is and how it can bring others so much happiness, even during dark times.

You could make your friends residing on the Sun a lot richer by helping them place bets on sporting events, if only you had friends on the Sun, of course! DescriptionMy Gnomish friend, Cog, has promised to help me build a device which will let me peer towards the stars. A truth exists, beyond magic, that can explain the strange transformation in the forest. Light travels at 300,000 kilometers per second. That is inconceivablyfast – faster than most people can even comprehend. This extreme speed is the reason you don’t have to wait for the light to appear when you switch on a bulb in your room; as soon as the bulb is on, light fills the room. In other words, you neverhave to ‘wait’ for light to reach you. Whether you are planning a one-time trip or hoping to make stargazing a regular scheduled family activity, finding the the appropriate date can mean the difference between an enjoyable evening-filled viewing or a miserable fruitless search. What season is best to see stars at night? This is one of my favourite Oscar Wilde Quotes– we are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars. This quote is a line from the play – Lady Windemere’s farm, 1892. Although the play doesn’t have a direct connection to the quote, it is significant for its message.Consider this: when you are looking at the Sun (although you shouldn’t look at it directly!) you are not actually looking at the present moment. Instead, you are looking at what the Sun looked like 8 minutes ago. As explained above, this isbecause those same light rays from the Sun that are striking your eye took 8 minutes to reach Earth. In other words, by the time those rays reached us, we had already advanced 8 minutes into the future! The storytelling aspect to this novel makes it unique to others in this genre. There are many books that deal with war, refugees and death, but Amina’s stories provide something extra. They are beautiful and bring hope and faith into such as bleak and dangerous setting. You ought to listen to what your emotions are telling you. They can’t always be informing you to feel sad about yourself and drive into hopeless situations. Emotions are good at sending a message. Each message is a clear signal that we must do something about it. The first step towards it is in looking up – beyond our difficulties into hope and dreams! The stars in the sky are the inspiration for her stories; they are magical and boundless and enchant both the reader and Amina's audience. Violence and the other disturbing images are not dwelled on unnecessarily, but the horror of Amina's situation is clear and present. Like Amina, Cotterill has re-focussed her gaze, and in Looking at the Stars the reader finds a surprising story of family, friendship and hope.
