Description

The 250mm depth of the frame means the lute frame levels better. The whole idea is the frame rides over the top of high spots and leaves material in the low spots. The rake can go into the bottom of a hollow and remove material. So the lute requires much less skill to achieve a better levelling result. The SurmountWay Lawn Levelling Rake lets you rake a wide strip in one pass. The rake head is 75cm wide and 25cm long and is one of the largest in our review. The entire levelling tool – handle and rake head – is made of heavy-duty stainless steel, with double welded joints for strength and durability. Our popular Lawn Leveling Rake 92cm is regularly used by landscapers and greenskeepers, indicating that it is highly regarded by these industry professionals. Levelling Lawn Rake, designed in the UK is precision made for both Quality and Durability. Built to endure even the toughest projects. All the lawn levelling rakes I’ve listed are made from stainless steel or aluminium . Stainless steel is durable and won’t rust, while those made from aluminium tend to have a little less strength. You may find that the head of a lawn levelling rake is made from stainless steel, with the handle made from aluminium.

This lawn leveller does a good job smoothing loose and bumpy soil with relatively little effort needed on the user’s part. It’s easy to use and durable, with the heavy-duty stainless steel base designed to stand the test of time. If you have a larger garden or even large dips in the lawn to level, then the SurmountWay Lawn Levelling Rake is a great choice thanks to its nice wide 75cm levelling width. For smaller gardens, the MIYA Level Lawn Rake is ideal because it has got a smaller levelling width of 43cm which is better for smaller narrow dips. Another slight issue is that the joint between the handle and board isn’t particularly durable. It hasn’t been welded, so it is a weak point in its construction. The strongest materials will allow your rake to break up clumped and hard soil, as opposed to only soft materials. Handle Design and LengthThe ease of storage makes this rake a good choice if you’ve not got a lot of space. It hangs on the wall, while the handle divides into two parts so you can store it more compactly.

The handle length is proportionate to the size of the rake head. The handle is in sections and its height/length is adjustable to 115cm and 150cm. As with all handles that are in sections, this weakens the stability of the handle a bit. Some online reviewers state that the handle is a bit flimsy. But you can always strengthen it by wrapping tape around the joins in the pole. I did a lot of searching around the internet and although I found a lot of DIY solutions there weren't any that I was super happy with so I decided to make my own with inspiration from different sources. The downside to an adjustable handle is that the handle will be weaker . A handle made from one solid piece of metal is going to be much stronger than one which comes apart. Using our level lawn rake is the simplest and easiest way to distribute and level the soil under your new turf for smooth and impressive results or over your existing lawn to level out those irritating dips and bumps for that perfect professional finish. This lawn leveller has a good weight to it which makes it suitable for spreading topsoil or gravel, while also levelling out lumpy soil. It’s sturdy and well made, powder coated to prevent rust. Carrying on from when I sacrificed my lawn and applied sulphate of iron (which is a moss killer and lawn tonic), one job I often used find myself doing before seeding is levelling my lawn. Once my lawn has been levelled, I usually overseed it, and you get a much better lawn, especially if you’re trying to get a striped lawn using a mower with a roller. All of the models in this review are made of stainless steel, of various grades. This is a metal that is strong and doesn’t rust or corrode. The grade of the stainless steel is important as that relates to its sturdiness. Alternate materials include aluminium which, while being more lightweight, is a little more flimsy. It’s easy to assemble this model as you put the handle together in three sections. This lets you adjust the length of the handle pole to between 72cm and 225cm according to what’s comfortable for you. Remember that you use an easy to and fro motion with this levelling rake. The SurmountWay Lawn Levelling Rake is the best lawn leveller overall thanks to its range of levelling head sizes and handle lengths. If you’ve got a smaller lawn, opt for the 43 x 25 cm lawn head.
