Description

The FX3’s full-frame image sensor is coupled with innovative light-gathering techniques to let you capture clear and usable images even in dim light. The standard ISO sensitivity of 80–102400 for movies is expandable all the way up to 409600. Wide dynamic range, wider creative expression

Sony often blazes the innovation trail, and there’s much to be said about the compelling features and powerful performance of the ZV-E1. The FX3 features 5-axis optical in-body image stabilisation - highly effective for handheld shooting. A high precision stabilisation unit and gyro sensors have made it possible to provide an Active Modethat is dedicated to movie shooting in each format, including 4K. In-body image stabilisation means that effective stabilisation can be achieved with a wide range of lenses, including E-mount lenses that do not include stabilisation of their own. In addition, the FX3 records image stabilisation metadata that can be done more practical adjustment during post-production using Catalyst Browse/Prepare.FX3 was designed to optimize professional operability. The controls frequently used in movie shooting such as ISO, iris, and white balance adjustment are located on the grip and on the top of the body for easy access. In addition, 140 functions assignable to 15 custom keys allow for ultimate efficiency.

The FX3 is the perfect tool for content creators looking to enter the world of cinematography," said Neal Manowitz, deputy president for Imaging Products and Solutions Americas at Sony Electronics. "It combines everything our customers love about Sony's video capabilities in our Alpha lineup with a new body optimized for videography. We are excited to add to Sony's Cinema Line and continue to support the world's creators with the best tools possible." Extra Optical Zoom 4:3 Aspect Ratio: 4.1x for 3Mega, 2Mega, 1Mega, 0.3Mega / 3:2 Aspect Ratio: 4.1x for 2.5Mega / 16:9 Aspect Ratio: 4.1x for 2Mega After filming for a decent amount of time, Pete and I were really impressed by the ZV-E1’s battery life, from what is the same FZ-100 battery as used in the FX3 and A7S III. You’ll get plenty of minutes under your belt from a single charge – Sony quotes up to 85 minutes. The Sony Alpha FX3 is the most compact Cinema Line camera available at time of launch, primarily designed for solo-video recording, vlogging and pieces to camera, thanks to an articulating LCD screen and detachable carry handle. An internal cooling system allows the FX3 to record uninterrupted 4K / 60p for longer, particularly noticeable when using Sony’s CF Express Type A memory cards. 4K full frame movies show minimal rolling shutter even at 120p and the camera displays excellent low light capabilities with 15+ EV stops of dynamic range thanks to its 10.2 MP CMOS sensor, with images swiftly processed by the premium Bionz XR processor. While those who splashed out the A7S III might feel slightly aggrieved that the FX3 has arrived just six months on, they will largely be hybrid shooters with slightly different needs.Recording format: JPEG (DCF Ver. 2.0, Exif Ver. 2.32, MPF Baseline compliant), HEIF (MPEG-A MIAF compliant), RAW (Sony ARW 4.0 format compliant) Wide alpine shot with hiker in front of building, with grassy slopes and snowy mountains behind, with wide depth of field Allows you to display a function menu by swiping upward on the monitor on the shooting standby screen.

Caption “New Age of Content Consumption” over shot of subject looking out of moving vehicle window, then shot of user adjusting movie camera on aircraft-mounted rig, then shots of users adjusting cameras in various settings The FX3's suitability for Airpeak isn't a huge surprise, given that the drone's first press shots showed it carrying a Sony A7S III – a camera that weighs a mere 16g less than the FX3. In addition to standard VGA (640x480) motion image recording, the FX3 also records stunning full-size movies in 16:9 wide VGA (848x480) at 30 fps. Shooting is one thing but viewing is another, and you will be suitably impressed by the 16:9 moving image when it is displayed on a wide screen TV. The brightness level of these moving images is also enhanced as a result of the pixel-mixed readout method performed by the CCD. For uninterrupted 4K 60p recording, the FX3 features an innovative heat dissipation structure, including a unique Sony Σ (sigma) shaped graphite-alloy heatsink. A complete internal redesign optimised airflow and placement of heatsinks. When required, a silent cooling fan provides ventilation for continuous recording at full resolution, with intake and exhaust air structurally isolated to maintain strong dust and moisture resistance. With the addition of the log shooting mode, the picture profiles were reviewed and the gamma setting S-Log2 is no longer included. After the update, you will need to use the gamma setting S-Log3.The new camera also features a dust and moisture resistant designand durable magnesium alloy chassis. Moreover, USB PD (Power Delivery) supports fast charging [xiv]for uninterrupted recording. It's notable that there's no such thing as a bad camera at this level, so if you have any investment at all in the lens system of one company (or plan to adapt DSLR-era lenses from them), this should probably be the deciding factor for you. But we'll highlight the particular strengths we found in each camera, just in case you are planning to switch systems. I only tried the ZV-E1 with the new 20-70mm F4 lens during testing. It’s a versatile lens that performed really well for video in my tests, although I found it a tad big for such a small camera – it obstructed a large part of the flip-out screen from my view when doing video selfies. Furthermore, the FX3 allows shooting at a maximum sensitivity setting of ISO 1600, with the High Sensitivity mode*, which reduces image blur caused by subject movement, and especially benefits indoor photography of children or pets at fast shutter speeds. This High Sensitivity mode* is made possible by the pixel-mixed readout method on the CCD. The picture quality is good enough for printing out to standard 4” x 6” (10cm x 15cm) size. Tally lights on the front and rear of the FX3 indicate whether the camera is recording at any given moment. They are clearly visible to both the camera operator and the person performing in front of the camera. Vari-angle LCD touch-panel monitor

The Sony FX3 and Sony A7S III are variants on the same concept – they're both small, 4K full-frame cameras that are particularly strong in low-light and offer highly compact setups for solo shooters. Active Mode789 is an optical in-body 5-axis image stabilization system that provides increased stabilization for movie shooting. To preserve image quality, the gyroscope sensor accurately measures camera shake and compensates optically. This makes stable video possible even when shooting hand-held without gimbal use, while walking, and at 4K resolution. Image stabilization and easier editing with Catalyst Changes layout for movie, which is information and icons overlapped picture on the movie standby screen. There's an option to shoot slo-mo 4K/120p footage, and the FX3 also has the popular S-Cinetone color profile, which recently arrived on the A7S III via a firmware update.

Focus mode: [Movie] AF-C, MF [Still image] AF-A (Automatic AF), AF-S (Single-shot AF), AF-C (Continuous AF), DMF (Direct Manual Focus), Manual Focus Arguably, the APS-C format ZV-E10 makes more sense for on-the-go content creators, not least because it’s a quarter of the price and even smaller, and also because lenses like the 11mm F1.8 are much smaller, lighter and, again, cheaper. You won’t get quite the same image and video quality, and no 4K 60p, but the ZV-E10’s image quality is still a significant cut above that of smartphones. Elsewhere, there’s a built-in intelligent mic that can prioritize rear or front audio, or can simply be left in auto mode (which is what I would do most of the time). The mic design covers multiple scenarios: selfie shooting, conversation between camera operator and subject, and ambient audio. It’s not the only camera to do this, though. The Sigma fp and fp L take a similar approach (though they don’t really have the FX3’s horsepower), while the Panasonic BGH1‘box’ camera offers an interesting upgrade path for Lumix GH5/GH5S shooters.
