About this deal

I’m not even sure what this is. It just sounds like someone has played a bloke with an okay singing voice snippets of popular music movements of the past and told him to head into a studio and record an album which emulated all that music. Things is, I struggle to hear even a shred of originality on Sunny Side Up. I mean the bloke doesn’t have an awful voice, but it just sounds like he’s been given a lyric sheet and told to sing - there’s very little here that he sounds emotionally invested in on any level. Most of the songs featured on the album were inspired by the end of Nutini's relationships with his long-term girlfriend Teri Brogan, and another girl which began when they were still in their teens.
