As the son of Hades, Nico di Angelo has been through so much, from the premature deaths of his mother and sister, to being outed against his will, to losing his friend Jason during the trials of Apollo. But there is a ray of sunshine in his life—literally: his boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo. Together the two demigods can overcome any obstacle or foe. At least, that’s been the case so far…

The sun also emits infrared radiation—whose waves are a much lower-frequency. Most heat from the sun arrives as infrared energy.Sunspots, solar flares, and solar prominences take form in the photosphere, although they are the result of processes and disruptions in other layers of the sun. the characters are flat and inconsistent and the plot is slow and riddled with holes; the pacing is horrible and the structure is all over the place. it’s incohesive and poorly written. this shouldn’t have made it past the editors. i’m not “being miserable” or trying to deny the importance of seeing queer relationships in media. i’m saying this book is simply not good and it’s important to point out why lest all queer rep becomes garbage that gets away with being published for the sole reason that it boasts a queer protagonist. good night. it’s my turn for a dip in the lethe. BTW though it's not necessary, I'd recommend reading the Trials of Apollo series before this. Though Nico and Will only appear in the first and last books, there are some spoilers to ToA and you'll have a better understanding of Will, particularly his relationship to Apollo. Trials of Apollo is also just a really good series itself! what did i ever do to deserve him? nico wondered. he asked himself that question a lot." HELLO???? OMG?? Nico gets given the YA trope of coming out to everyone, ever, which is told to us in a story a few lines after Nico comments about his trauma of being outed by Cupid - something he very clearly struggles with since he mentions it multiple times. Then we find out he outs Will, but it's ~fine~ because Nico shows everyone at a camp for children born to Greek gods that being gay is okay. A camp run by Dionysus mind you. I get what they were aiming for and I blame the fact that Nico is the first canonically queer character in this series but come on.

Between the radiative zone and the next layer, the convective zone, there is a transition zone called the tachocline. This region is created as a result of the sun’s differential rotation. The writing style also didn’t work for me because of how dominated it was by lame jokes that barely had any of the classic Pjo humour we’re used to, and because of how it had SO MANY pop culture references. These pop culture references date the book which is annoying since Riordan has told us time and time again how the book doesn’t follow a certain date. This is a minor annoyance but jfc they were not needed. I was happy to have a story about Will & he having POV chapters, which was one of my wistful anticipations, but... he didn't feel completely like himself. What I find most exciting, however, is who else Nico and Will might come across in the Underworld. Since they’re going to Tartarus, the list is fairly limited (at least when it comes to people they want to see), but if the two end up in other areas of the Underworld, they could visit some fallen demigods from the past. Jason Grace would be the main attraction, of course, as his death is the most recent and Nico has ties to him from the Heroes of Olympus series, but we might also stumble across his sister, Bianca, or even his mother, Maria. Nico also has a connection to Daedalus, which would not only be an interesting cameo but also a clever ally to have by their side. But this was the first time in Nico's entire life that a certain sensation filled his whole body, stitched itself to his bones, buried itself in his heart. Nico di Angelo and Will Solace first received this prophecy at the end of The Tower of Nero, but Rachel Elizabeth Dare gives it to them a second time and tells them that she has said the prophecy a total of twelve times. It's later revealed that the prophecy was sent to Nico by Hades. Despite being accompanied by Will with Iapetus and Small Bob being the other quest members, the prophecy pertains solely to Nico and Bob's roles with none of the lines directly referencing Will and Small Bob's roles in the quest. After that, the Sun will shed its outer layers, surrounding itself with a colorful bubble of gas called a planetary nebula. As the nebula dissipates, distributing carbon, oxygen, and other elements into the galaxy, only the Sun's collapsed core will remain -- a dense ball no bigger than Earth, containing about 60 percent of the Sun's original mass. This dead remnant is called a white dwarf. Over many billions of years, the white-dwarf Sun will cool and fade from sight, leaving behind a dark cosmic ember. What are sunspots? This reveals that, despite Tartarus' anger at the two, he did not ultimately destroy them and consume their essence, instead allowing Bob and Damasen to die and reform.

The sun does not constantly emit sunspots and solar ejecta; it goes through a cycle of about 11 years. During this solar cycle, the frequency of solar flares changes. During solar maximums, there can be several flares per day. During solar minimums, there may be fewer than one a week. Near the sun’s poles are coronal holes. These areas are colder and darker than other regions of the sun, and allow some of the fastest-moving parts of the solar wind to pass through. boo nico “he had no doubt he could kill octavion before the first cohort intervened, nor did he particularly care if he died for his actions” di angelo beats up tsats nico “i think about octavion’s death every day” di angelo in a dark alley The vast majority of electromagnetic waves that come from the sun are invisible to us. The most high-frequency waves emitted by the sun are gamma rays, x-rays, and ultraviolet radiation (UV rays). The most harmful UV rays are almost completely absorbed by Earth’s atmosphere. Less potent UV rays travel through the atmosphere, and can cause sunburn. One of my favourite things while reading was the fact their relationship was not perfect. They had their sweet, tender, fluffy moments that made me smile and gush. But they also had their struggles. Which is understandable. I mean, two kids who’ve been through three wars and enough trauma to last a lifetime won’t have it easy. Throughout the book, they both have their own struggles and issues. Nico doesn’t open up a lot and Will is a little close-minded about Nico’s life, and both of these tend to upset the other. the “fighting relationship scenes” that nico and will had were so fake and like pls it was so uncomfortable to read it. Eventually, as the Sun burns helium to form heavier elements, it will reach a critical point where fusion cannot release enough energy to form new elements, so fusion will end. Photovoltaics use the sun’s energy to speed up electrons in solar cells and generate electricity. This form of technology has been used widely, and can provide electricity for rural areas, large power stations, buildings, and smaller devices such as parking meters and trash compactors. Mark Oshiro‘s credits include Anger Is a Gift; Each of Us a Desert; The Insiders; You Only Live Once, David Bravo; Star Wars Hunters: Battle for the Arena; and Into the Light (March 2023), in addition to several short stories across a variety of anthologies.
