Description

It offers a reduced grind noise level, a welcome feature for those early morning grinds. Another unique attribute of the Ode is its auto-stop feature, which eliminates the risk of leaving the grinder on for too long. Cons The Gen 2 Brew Burrs grind finer and with more precision. The broader grind range is exceptional for every brew method except espresso. With new anti-static technology for less grind mess, a redesigned load bin for smoother bean feeding, and an expanded 100-gram catch cup for batch brews, the next generation of grinding is here. No more waking up your roommates or family members! From high-quality materials to ditching the noisy gearbox, “Ode” was designed with quietness in mind.

Yes, the price is higher than many entry-level grinders. However, compared to many higher-end grinders, it produces to a similar standard for particle distribution of ground coffee. Is It Worth Upgrading From The Original Fellow Ode Grinder? And what of the noise problem? Well, that smart speed motor means the Fellow Ode runs consistently under 60 decibels throughout grinding. Better still, it also contributes to an increasing grind particle consistency. The Ode is much faster and quieter than the Breville. I haven't specifically timed the Ode, but to grind 17 grams of beans it's certainly less than 10 seconds between pressing the start button and the motor coming to a complete stop after detecting no more beans in the hopper. The Breville's timed dose took 19.4 seconds to grind the same quantity. They also grind right down to 250 microns (down from Gen 1's 550 microns and up), which means you can dial in your finest pourover recipes for even more extraction. Another convenience: The catch cup for the ground coffee centers easily and is securely held in place under the chute by magnets. This magnetic alignment is particularly handy considering the narrow clearance for the cup between base and chute. Grounds-funneling fins inside the catch cup also make pouring the grounds into even the narrowest of filters easy. Reduced Noise & Heat – With an in-line motor design there’s less force being turned into unnecessary noise and heat.

While this innovation does apparently contribute to outstanding grind consistency, it is also the mechanism at play in another clever, though less foolproof, feature: auto-stop. Many elements make a great-tasting cup of coffee, but freshly ground beans are one of the most important. Therefore, if you have a good burr grinder, you’ll be part of the way to a better-tasting beverage because you can grind your beans immediately before brewing. Coffee and tea, without added sweeteners, are healthy choices. Once you get over number #6, you’ll get the quality grind for French press and cold brew. Use whichever number you prefer according to your brewing style. Grind QualityProfessional-grade Flat burrs – Stainless-steel 64mm flat burrs ideal for a clean, consistent brew. Pros: The Ode’s outstanding grind consistency alone is reason enough to get on board, while this compact, stylish grinder’s groundbreaking additional features add welcome convenience to the creative challenge of precision single-dose brewing.

I had this product for more than 2 months now and went trough several bags of coffee, including dark roast and medium roast (I did Moka Pot, Aeropress and French Press). Overall I am quite happy with it as I switched from Cuisinart DBM-8 and there is not even a comparison between the two.No more waking up your roommates. From high-quality materials to ditching the noisy gearbox, Ode was designed with quietness in mind. Of course, the styling. The Ode is quite a bit smaller than the Breville, fitting under the cabinets with more room to spare. And, as my girlfriend said the first time she saw the Ode on the counter, "It's cute!" It’s pretty expensive. If you’ve got a tight budget for your coffee grinder, it will likely not fit into it.
