About this deal

There are three basic techniques that can be used for cooking almost all hard grains – the absorption method, the pasta method, and the pilaf method. Additionally, it has a high amount of vitamin B1 (Thiamin) that contributes to the proper functioning of our brain activity, but also for the heart and for muscles. Scoop out and set aside a cup of the cooking water before draining the rice. Spread out the rice on a baking sheet to cool (see Make Ahead). Heat three tablespoons of oil in a large, heavy-based frying pan over a high heat and, once it’s smoking hot, add the corn and fry for six minutes, turning just the once – you want some caramelisation. Add the garlic, fry for two minutes, then add the spring onions and cook for four minutes, until they’ve softened. Turn the heat to medium, add the chipotle, mangetout, a teaspoon and a quarter of salt, 100ml water and the lime juice, leave to simmer for two or three minutes, then take off the heat. It is in fact a brown rice, rich in fibre and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). The colour of its grains makes us understand how rich they are in antioxidants, the same that we find in blueberries and purplish fruits and vegetables. Recall that an antioxidant is a molecule that counteracts oxidation and therefore cellular aging. It is part of the species known as “Oryza sativa” and it is believed to have originated in Japan before spreading to ancient China and becoming the “Forbidden Rice,” only available to those in Chinese Imperial Court.Venus rice is particularly rich in antioxidants, which are the molecules with which our body counteracts the activity of free radicals and prevents all those dysfunctions associated to cellular aging, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. DII-VENUS profiles in vegetative organs of Rice. (A) Auxin level is lower at apical meristem and axils. Arrowheads indicate the strongest DII-VENUS signals at both axils and thus the lowest auxin level. (B) Auxin reaches the maximum at the tip of tillering bud where DII signals are undetectable. (C) Highest auxin expression level is detected at the tip of root cap region of an emerging lateral root. Asterisk indicates the root cap region with no detectable DII signal. The level of DII-VENUS is shown in pseudocolor from blue to red (Spectrum LUT bar in the top right). Blue, no signal; Red, strong saturated signal intensity. Scale bar: 25 μm. These help to normalisethe bad cholesterol levels that may contribute to cardiovascular diseases by regulating your body’s ability to metabolise cholesterol. 16,17 Rahman A., Zhou J., Yu F., Wang X., Yang Y., Yu C., et al.. However, it is preferable to always use fresh shrimp for a better taste. If you have fresh shrimp, you will need to peel them, if they are unpeeled, and to cook them for a slightly longer time. It is very easy to overcook shrimp, so be careful and cook only until they turn red. Can I store it?

Though it was once a forbidden grain in ancient China, that’s fortunately no longer the case, meaning you can bring its nutty flavours and many health benefits to all your favourite dishes. Dreher K.
