In the film, Professor Brand has spent his whole life supposedly trying to solve a gravity equation which would allow Earth to launch a space station saving the lives of many people on the planet. The original script never had scientists on earth trying to solve such an issue, and the secret NASA base was not built in a centrifuge space station. But thats not to say that the gravity problem wasn't solved elsewhere...

The crew decides to leave the planet but camouflaged Chinese robot marines reveal themselves and won't let them leave with the technology. CASE stays behind to hold them off to allow the crew to hike up the mountain to the ice surface. They make it but their lander has been damaged, keeping them grounded.

After graduating from college, Christopher Nolan directed industrial films and corporate videos. He made another short Doodlebug (1997), which was about a guy chasing an insect around the apartment with a shoe only to find out after squashing it that it was his miniature Even the dusty apocalypse, so chillingly rendered in Nolan’s final film, is dealt with slightly differently in the 2008 script. Some of the descriptions are similarly disturbing – swathes of California are abandoned, and battleships lie at the bottom of the sea – but others are disarmingly light. Shortly before Cooper and Murph find the underground base, they spot some red berries growing on the ground. “Don’t touch them,” Cooper advises, not realising they’re strawberries. It’s a clever, incidental illustration of how long the slow environmental collapse has gone on, and how it’s effected the story’s characters – not unlike Murph’s earlier question at a baseball match: “What’s a hot dog?” Into the unknown Ikon London Magazine coverage from the London Premiere". Retrieved March 8, 2018.They eventually encounter those orb distortions, possibly creatures that can only interact using gravity (a concept used in a much different way in Nolan's film). The things propel the crew through the cabin in what is described as a magical moment. Brand finds a way to communicate with them though patterns using ball bearings. The beings somehow guide the ship towards an opening... Oliver Gettell of the Los Angeles Times reported that "film critics largely agree that Interstellar is an entertaining, emotional, and thought-provoking sci-fi saga, even if it can also be clunky and sentimental at times." [164] James Dyer of Empire awarded the film a full five stars, describing it as "brainy, barmy, and beautiful to behold ... a mind-bending opera of space and time with a soul wrapped up in all the science." [165] Dave Calhoun of Time Out London also granted the film a maximum score of five stars, stating that it is "a bold, beautiful cosmic adventure story with a touch of the surreal and the dreamlike." [166] Richard Roeper of Chicago Sun-Times awarded the film a full four stars and wrote, "This is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen—in terms of its visuals, and its overriding message about the powerful forces of the one thing we all know but can't measure in scientific terms. Love." [167] Interstellar is arguably Christopher Nolan’s most emotionally resonant film, which is also a much more general departure from sci-fi movie tropes that tend to prioritize the scientific facts and conflict ahead of more intimate character development. This isn’t the case for Interstellar, which has an incredible scientific plot but largely relies on the emotional relationship between Coop and his daughter Murph for the film’s success. Murph and Coop provide the most important dynamic for Interstellar, which is augmented by the fact that the film also makes the relationships between fathers and daughters an integral aspect of the plot.
