About this deal

Four, including the now ubiquitous ‘have ever battle tactic you complete be from your faction list’. Protect da Shrine! Could potentially see some use, requiring you to have no enemy models within 12” of the Loonshrine at the end of the game, and for it to have not been smashed to rubble. Superior Spell-flinger has a Tzeentchy flair and asks you to have two of the Gitz endless spells on the battlefield when the game ends. You don’t have as much control of that as you might like, but the Scuttletide at least can be quite difficult to dispel. None are sure whether it is instinct, the Gloomspite, or some other force that leads troggoths to follow Aelementor ( Cloud-Spirit • Spirit of the Mountain • Spirit of the Wind) • Flamegheist • Living Land • Shadow Daemon • Spite If your opponent has any threats hiding behind a pesky ward save, why not strip them of that safety net with Nasty Hex? Now you can ensure your savage bolts don’t find their impact blunted. Shootas and Stabbas return and both are improved on their baseline warscroll. Shootas in particular now come with more range and hit on a 4+ with their bows, and get an extra shot for having 10 or more models. Stabbas have their shield baked in for a base 5+ save and have lost their wound bonus in exchange for a really exciting ability to contest objectives from 9” away instead of 6”.

Gitz were notorious for the fact that for a long time they didn’t have subfactions, until they did. The Battletome did not launch with any, but they’d eventually get some through White Dwarf, then reprinted in Broken Realms. They were…fine, in a ‘better than nothing’ sort of way. There’s 3 kinds of Trogg units, plus a leader and a named leader. While not a ton of variety, lets try and keep it in theme as best we can. Allegiance: Gloomspite Gitz This kit allows you to build your miniature as a Dankhold Troggboss instead. Regardless of your choice of unit, you can customise your miniature with a variety of heads, weapons, arms and accessories for making your models look distinct – great if you're looking to add multiples of these massive monsters to your army. The set also features a host of basing materials you can use on any of your Gloomspite Gitz models. Troggs have the Glowy Howzit , a mighty 4+ ward artefact that gets turned off if you roll a 1 after taking damage that isn’t negated, and the Pet Gribbly which gives +1 wound and then +1 to hit and wound if you roll a 1 after taking damage that isn’t negated. The Troggherds played a vital part of Skragrott the Loonking's conquest of Skrappa Spill. [2b] Organisation

We are going to look at building an army of these bad boys three different ways, using the new battletome. Path to Glory rules for your Gloomspite Gitz to concoct strange and esoteric potions to empower your clan. Grimscuttle is a total rewrite from the old White Dwarf rules and feels like it still doesn’t quite get there for what is one of the weaker standalone parts of the army. This now lets you deploy up to two spiderfang units off the board with each skitterstrand that you have already deployed in ambush from beyond – bringing all the units on together when the skitterstrand deploys onto the board. It’s certainly an interesting way to keep some of your units safe from early alpha strikes, but can leave you at the mercy of multiple 9” charges. Battalions Starting off we will look at my favorite, the Troggoth army. (Note: This is not a cheap army to buy and play, troggoths are massive models that cost a lot of points and the price is reflected via GW)

As this is a bit of a unique case for the destruction forums I'm going to layout a few basic things as to what sort of lists go here and what goes in the main Gloomspite thread. There are a mountain of warscrolls here, so this isn’t an exhaustive list of everything in the book and everything that’s changed. HeroesDankhold General or Skragrott, I really think those are the only 2 general choices for Dankhold armies. Their fantastic damage potential makes both units excellent additions to a Kruleboyz army, so let’s take a look at their warscrolls for all the juicy details. Breaka-boss on Mirebrute Troggoth Leave Me Alone –Keep Trugg alive and kill all enemy Heroes. In some matchups this will be nice and easy, but in others nearly impossible to achieve. Your opponent should be gunning for Trugg considering how much he does for the army, so consider one of the General’s Handbook ones. Battle Tactics We may be in the dead of winter here in the mitten state, (-26 wind chill as of this writing) but I don’t think the Gloomspite Gitz care too much about that. They are the new hotness that GW has released, and the models are certainly stunning! This isn’t a terribly long article because there just isn’t a lot here. The fluff is pretty much what you’d expect, just a bunch of dudes having fun causing mayhem, and the rules aren’t anything we haven’t seen before but they’re powerful and are new for the Gloomspite Gitz.

Thanks very much to Games Workshop for providing us with this product for content creation and preview purposes. As for the battalion, even at 2k it's too expensive, even if you factor in that 50 points of Command Point. The extra item is cool, but again I'd rather have more trolls as they'll be doing more damage than natural 6s to wound ever will provide. Every turn, Troggoths can attempt to regenerate D3 wounds on a 4+. This adds +1 to the roll, making it a 3+. This makes for reliable healing which will make the fairly tanky Troggoths far more frustrating. Command Ability: Oblivious to Sorcery Badsnatchers are also new and provide a buff to your moonclan wizards, letting you reroll one of your casting dice if they’re within 9” of another moonclan wizard. Rerolls to casting is nice, but the moonclan lore isn’t quite good enough to make forcing it through a requirement, and the other options for subfaction are spicy enough to compete. Finally there’s Chasing the Moon which requires your general to survive the battle, potentially much easier than it used to be if they’re a Galetian Champion, and to have been affected by the Light of the Bad Moon in 3 battle rounds. Artefact: Aetherquartz Studded Hide

Discussions of lists which don't have Dankhold Troggbosses as generals or all the Troggoth battleline are fine. As long as the list itself is trogg focused. This deadly duo combines the cunning of a Kruleboyz boss with the primal strength of a Mirebrute Troggoth, the smellier cousin of the Dankhold Troggoth that the Gloomspite Gitz often coerce into battle. Thus, Age of Sigmar continues to deliver striking models positively gushing with character, not only being memorable but also joyous to paint with Trugg being the latest and possibly finest example of this. I swore I'd never paint another Troggoth HQ alter painting 2 Dankhold Troggoths coated in more barnacles than brushes have bristles, but nevertheless I have sworn undying fealty to my new king. Long live the Troggoth king! Long live Trugg!
