Place a frying pan (cast iron is perfect if you have it) over a high heat, when hot add the flatbread oiled side down and cook for 1-2 minutes until the bottom is set and slightly charred, drizzle with a little more oil and flip to cook the other side. Remove, set aside, and repeat with the remaining flat breads.

Sustainable food advocate Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall devised the range of ketchups with River Cottage’s culinary director Gelf Alderson and organic food producers Nine Meals From Anarchy. First, you have to roast the veggies. While the onion and garlic are pretty straightforward to work with, there are two different ways you can deal with the beets: Peel First

self-raising flour, plus extra for kneading/rolling (you can also use gluten free bread flour blend) I can't live without this anymore, it's addictive ... so grateful to have a tomato free ketchup that is just delicious” You could serve these Waitrose Vegan Spanish Style Whirls with Creamy Mash or as part of a simple tapas buffet ( Patatas Bravas , anyone?). Our Original Beetroot Ketchup is where all the Foxy fun began. Naturally sweetened with apples and the rich earthy flavours of beetroot, our multi award-winning range is 100% natural, 100% plant based and totally tomato free! I liked the tomato and beetroot ketchups best. The others were a bit too overpowering for me but if you like bold and hot flavours, like my friends do, you’ll probably love them. The range shows that it pays to broaden your horizons and try something different. They are all very different so there’s bound to be at least one that you like and can use to bring some rich flavours to your table.

Beetroot The great thing about this recipe is that it is up to you whether to use fresh or pre-cooked beetroot. If you're using fresh, there's instructions on how to cook them with as little fuss and mess as possible in the recipe.

Remove, set aside and repeat with the remaining flat breads. But if you're in a hurry this ketchup is also lovely made with pre-cooked beetroot. Just make sure it is plain and not in vinegar or with other flavourings. These tandoori strips are coated in a spicy batter which we absolutely LOVE, but if you’re not a fan of spice then you can also get these fillets in a pakora or salt and vinegar flavoured batter.

Ground cumin I love the combination of cumin and beetroot, and it adds a lovely note to this ketchup. By all means experiment with other spices too to make this recipe your own. This roasted beet ketchup is full of flavour, and great for people who dislike tomatoes, have to avoid nightshades, and/or just love beets! Now, I am refreshed, inspired, and ready to go! Expect at LEAST a good handful of ethnic recipes to pop up on this blog over the next while, as I come up with time to develop them. Martin Lewis: What the Autumn Statement means for you – including wages, benefits, pensions, ISAs, national insurance and more They’re also free of artificial colours, preservatives and suitable for veggies which makes them a winner in our book.Autumn Statement: State pension confirmed to rise by 8.5% from April 2024 – while some benefits will go up by 6.7% But, if you're giving this ketchup away as a gift it is nice to have some really pretty flip-top bottles - I love these Kilner 250ml bottles which I bought for a vodka project last year but are now being re-used! This week’s Weekly Pinch of Shopping is full of tasty treats – they might taste naughty, but they’re sooo nice – as well as some time saving products and substitutes for higher calorie items! He's an avid hater of tomatoes. While he's ok with tomatoes in ketchup, he'd just as soon never have to eat tomatoes of any kind.

Red wine vinegar This is a lovely flavour of vinegar to go with the beetroot, but you can use white wine or cider vinegar if you prefer. I think malt vinegar would be a little too astringent here, and balsamic would make the ketchup very dark. If you like beets, you'll love this. Even if you like normal ketchup and have no issues with beets, you'll enjoy this as a fun alternative. A Ketchup for Everyone and Every Occasion - Our ketchups are gluten free, dairy free and vegan, meaning everyone can enjoy them! Use our ketchups on every We agreed this one looked pretty revolting and it was our least favourite in terms of taste. Perhaps it would be better as a sauce than a dip.
