Description

Both the Pixie and the Citiz are made for Nespresso by Breville and DeLonghi. Functionally, they’re both the same machine. If you shop around a little, you may be able to get one manufacturer’s model for a little cheaper than the other one. The CitiZ is well-built overall, with a slim footprint that will fit on even a crowded kitchen counter. It comes in four colors, including a vibrant red, and features a removable cup tray for smaller cups. It’s an elegant machine with a high-end feel. At first glance, they probably seem very similar to you, and they are in many ways. However, some key differences can have a significant effect on your brewing experience. Below, we’re comparing these two machines so you can decide which is a better option for you.

When you’re comparing the CitiZ vs Pixie, there are a few things to think about. The Pixie has a smaller water reservoir than the CitiZ, which means it will need to be refilled more often. The Pixie’s spent capsule tank is also just a touch smaller, so that will have to be emptied more often as well. Overall, the Pixie is a bit less convenient in terms of clean up. Both machines produce the exact same quality espresso, so you’ll just need to decide which is better suited for you and your needs. Hopefully, this guide has helped you understand the differences and choose one for your home! The Pixie is nearly identical to the CitiZ, but the most significant difference is the water reservoir’s size. The Pixie’s water tank can hold 24 ounces, making it significantly smaller than that of the CitiZ. The Pixie will need to be refilled more often, but, unlike the CitiZ, it does have a low water indicator to prompt you to refill. The Pixie is also slightly less convenient to use. It has a lever that you need to close manually before each brew, and the storage tank for spent capsules only holds ten as opposed to the CitiZ’s, which holds 11. These may seem like small differences, but over time it leads to a less convenient experience. The Pixie is thinner at 4.4 inches, making it easier to place than the CitiZ, which is 5.5 inches wide. However, the CitiZ has a power cord that is a foot longer than the Pixie’s, so if you have few outlets in your kitchen or office, the CitiZ will make placement easier for you despite its larger size. AppearanceOriginalLine brewers work with Nespresso capsules, refillable capsules, as well as a whole host of third-party compatible capsules from other manufacturers.

How important is water tank size? This is something that you must decide for yourself. One espresso shot pulled by a Nespresso machine has a volume of around 1.5 ounces. I should mention the breadth of Nespresso capsules available, which take in pretty much every taste (including decaffeinated) and even special, flavoured capsules. To my mind, Nespresso has the best range of capsules for any pod coffee machine. That actually leaves you with four choices: a Breville or DeLonghi version of the Pixie, and a Breville or DeLonghi version of the Pixie. The espresso is flavorful and aromatic, with a strong layer of crema no matter which coffee variety you use. We were impressed with the espresso quality produced by this compact Nespresso model. Extra Features Uses all varieties of Nespresso Grands Crus capsules. Innovative Nespresso capsules contain the perfect amount of freshly roasted and ground coffee. Shop Direct Finance Company will receive a commission from the Insurer for arranging and administering your Insurance policy. Measuring my shot of espresso, it was delivered at 60.1ºC, which is just about right: sufficiently hot, but cool enough to drink straight away. Some people complain about Nespresso machines not being hot enough – but this one, for certain, works at exactly the right temperature. With higher volumes of coffee, such as a lungo, the final temperature was a bit hotter at 73ºC – again, this is just about spot on. Very Protect - Replace insurance excludes some situations including not following the manufacturer’s instructions and wilful neglect. Further Relevant Information

Before we compare the differences between the Nespresso Pixie and the Nespresso Citiz, it’s worth looking at how they both are similar. Nespresso Citiz and Pixie similarities Brewing system We did find that the water reservoir is hard to monitor, as you can’t see it from the front. The cup tray isn’t the most effective and full-sized cups don’t fit well even with it removed. Heating up in just 25 seconds, the Nespresso Citiz uses Nespresso capsules, which contain the perfect amount of freshly roasted and ground coffee for a true barista experience at home.

Not all of us need the fanciest coffee machine, and if you just want something good-looking and easy to use that reliably dispenses espresso, the Nespresso CitiZ could well be for you. With its decent water capacity and clever design, including a fold-down cup stand, this is currently the best low-cost Nespresso machine available. Design and features The Pixie has a low water indicator to help with water management. It is less expensive, so if you don’t mind the minor inconvenience of refilling the water and emptying the spent capsule bin more often, you can save some money by buying the Pixie. Item number QHWFH Nespresso CitiZ 11315 Coffee Machine by Magimix - takes the effort out of making great coffee. The basic model of this coffee maker doesn’t include any milk accessories, but you can opt for the CitiZ&Milk, which comes bundled with Nespresso’s Aeroccino milk frother. The Aeroccino comes built into the side, and you’ll get it for about half the cost of buying it separately. This could be a great option if you like lattes but don’t have the budget for pricier models like the Lattissima or the Creatista.
