Description

The asymmetrical clipping circuit adds a rich, saturated tone that’s great for getting close to a tube sound without the cost of a tube amp. I used to own a tube amp (a Vox AC15C2) and I think this pedal really captures the overdriven tube sound, regardless of what it’s plugged into. When plugged into an SD-1, try pushing the level knob to the max, whilst keep the gain on zero. Place the SD-1 at either the beginning of your pedalboard’s signal chain or directly into your amps input to push the envelope of your frontend tone. Alternatively, you can plug the SD-1 into your Effects Loop, which acts perfectly as a solo boost for lead playing. Use the tone knob to find the sweet spot of your desired guitar tone and tune it to the environment you are in. You can then use the gain knob to subtly add a little more “break-up” and sustain - this is a hidden secret of the SD-1! Photo 11 (left): Replacing your Super Overdrive’s R5 resistor with a 10k Ω part will enable you to clean up the signal more. Also, swapping the C3 and R6 components with different values will vary the available gain and which frequencies get amplified and clipped by the op-amp. Photo 12 (right): Swap your Tube Screamer’s R7 resistor with a 10k Ω resistor for a more pristine minimum-gain setting. You can also vary the C3 and R6 values for different levels of drive, as well as to change frequencies the op-amp clips and amplifies.

The SD-1 is perfect for beginner guitarists looking for their first pedal, intermediate guitar players wanting to push their playing further and advanced players who wanted legendary tone. Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. Accessories Leaflet ("USING THE UNIT SAFELY,""IMPORTANT NOTES," and "Information")The Boss SD-1 is an overdrive pedal, which means that it’s designed to mimic the warm “soft-clipping” sound of older tube amplifiers. And it does. Overdrive and distortion are unique sounds that can be confused. Gain an increased awareness of the differences between the two terms. It’s just a classic sound isn’t it?” he tells us. “I think I could have done 90 per cent of my career with either a 335 or a Telecaster, a Deluxe Reverb and an SD-1 and everything would have been fine! It’s very recordable, it sits in the mix well and it’s easy to get a sound that I’m happy with” Incorporating the same asymmetric overdrive circuitry as used in the original Boss OD-1 OverDrive pedal, the Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive pedal delivers a warm, smooth midrange tone with edge. Key Features PH-3 Phase Shifter. The PH-3 is a characterful pedal in its own right, but using it in a chain with the SD-1 elevates it to another level, giving it a natural, analogue sound. The SD-1 has been such an important pedal for guitar players that Boss has released a few variations of this timeless classic. It’s a handy tool to reign in the pedal from sounding too bright, which it can if you’re using it with a Stratocaster or a bright amp like a Vox or Fender. Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty A distortion pedal can be a guitarist's most defining tool. Learn to pair it with other effects and expand your sonic approach. Read more… Getting the Most Out of Your Overdrive Pedal The drive knob sets the intensity of the overdrive effect. At a low setting, the pedal will have a lower amount of clipping. A higher setting means more clipping. That means more saturation, more harmonics, and more sustain!
