If theyre going to go with another Imperial series, the Battles Sisters certainly seem interesting enough to follow around for a few issues. The Astra Militarum, also known as the Imperial Guard, has gotten more and more diverse over the years. When Marvel announced they’d be making Warhammer 40,000 comics there were two types of people: Warhammer fans who couldn’t believe their luck, and folks who had no idea what a Warhammer was and why there were 40,000 of them. The Sisters of Battle faction is currently very prominent in various areas of Warhammer 40k’s new releases and lore developments, as the tabletop army received a top-to-bottom relaunch, including a huge new range of plastic models, starting in 2019. It IS disappointing that they would go with another Imperium-based series when there are so many other interesting ends of the galaxy, including Eldar, Squats, and Space Orks.

The Sisters learn the story and fate of the Inquisitorial Acolyte, but this doesn't necessarily equal mission accomplished. Artist Edgar Salazar ( League of Legends: Zed, Rise of the Black Panther, Venom) is on the art, while Arif Prianto takes care of the color. Grønbekk goes on to praise the art team working on the book while setting the stage for the tone of the story they'll create. The grimdark is heavy and there’s very little respite in a world where war is cherished and death is constant.

Last October, Marvel Comics launched their first-ever W arhammer 40,000 comic book to much acclaim . It’s just that it’s a little bit disappointing to read a story that, so far at least, feels very safe. Good place to start for anyone new to warhammer 40k, and a good place to start for anyone wanting to know about the Sisters of Battle.
