Description

In 2001, Peter Jackson’s film adaptation helped to introduce the epic to an even wider audience, and Alan Lee was the natural choice for a lead concept artist winning him the 2004 Academy Award for Art Direction.

If a book reaches a wider audience, there will always be those who love it and those who absolutely hate it. Inside, the book includes thirty-two of Tolkien’s illustrations and maps, along with the pages of the Book of Mazarbul (from the Dwarves’ ill-fated attempt to retake Moria), whose pages Tolkien had created to include in the initial editions, but were nixed by the publisher due to the high cost of the recreation in publication. The cover underneath the jacket is very attractive, using Tolkien's own designs, the central emblem of which peeps out through a hole in the dust jacket.I did read “The Hobbit”, but eyeing its three-volume monstrosity of a sequel, I realised it’s not what I want to spend my time on. Das Buch kommt in einem leinengebundenen Einschub, der es sowohl während des Versands als auch im Regal vor Staub und Beschädigungen schützt. Echoes of Truth neatly and masterfully encapsulates how Tolkien not only incorporated, but explored how Christian thought permeates his works. It’s difficult to imagine how HarperCollins will top this production for the book’s 60th birthday, in 2028 - better start saving up now.

The book isn't too heavy and the pages open up flat, which makes it perfect for this who enjoy reading for long periods of time. Tolkien's classic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, gorgeously illustrated throughout in color by the author himself and with the complete text printed in two colors, plus sprayed edges and a ribbon bookmark. Featuring extraordinary illustrations by Clive Hicks-Jenkins and an exclusive introduction by Janina Ramirez, each of the 750 numbered copies has been signed by both contributors. Awarded the CBE and an honorary Doctorate of Letters from Oxford University, he died in 1973 at the age of 81. Although I found some other parts of the journey fascinating, the most exhausting and gut-wrenching leg of it is my favourite.I did suggest this one to HarperCollins, but I think they would have released this anyway to fit in with the TV series. The front has a die-cut hole in the middle of the ringspell, which reveals the Eye of Sauron, which is stamped on the book’s front cover.

I got the set delivered and it was filled with packing paper to protect the box, but to be honest, I feel like I wouldn’t worry about much damage unless it was a sharp object. Mary Shelley's darkly disturbing tale is illustrated by Angela Barrett and newly introduced by Richard Holmes. On one side is an image of the trolls that Bilbo comes across in The Hobbit, but portrayed as in The Fellowship when Sam and Frodo come across their statues. It's one of the finest books ever conceived and was adapted into a fantastic trilogy of movies by Peter Jackson.
