About this deal

A lot of toys could have got away without this feature but it is really needed for this version of Ultra Magnus. The final, fully armoured robot mode looks really good, much better than the Siege version, but that's about it for me. It's probably right for the character, but does underscore that Magnus is an also-ran as Autobot leadership contenders go. The larger robot is formed by a process of armouring up the smaller one; just like the Siege version and in a way similar to utilising a Weaponizer. There may be quite a lot of hollow areas on Magnus, but he's certainly chunky in all the right places.

BEASTIFY THE BATTLEFIELD: Unleash the primal power of the beasts with the ancient and highly advanced F.Upon completing the transformation and taking a minute to get over how strange the feet looking sticking out at an angle on the back, the missile launchers can be attached to either side of the trailer and the rifle mounted via a peg hold at the back. It also results in the feet not being able to be straightened when in altform giving the back of the trailer a weird appearance. I'll probably get Kingdom Magnus, repaint some of the parts, and mix and match some of the armour and weapons with Siege Magnus.

The original 1986 Generations 1 version of Ultra Magnus still remains a strong contender for my favourite Transformer toy/figure of all time. Bubble wrap is still used for fragile items and some preowned toys but the majority of our parcels use brown kraft paper. We also see how good the inner bot can look when transformed properly, something we did not see before. This figure has been partially remolded and deco’d to best reflect his G1 look, and with no battle damage! To transform them into the trailer, you need to snap together the shoulder pieces and slide them into the rear of the truck. The connectors on the sides of the trailer are moved forward compared to the Siege version, so it leaves a gap and leaves the front of the red at the top hanging as it can't connect to the bit on Magnus' back. The truck mode's still got its issues, but the trailer is decent enough to make up for some of its shortcomings. The fists are particularly unsightly as they just stick out the back in full view, even with the trailer attached. Getting home, and having a (relatively) better background to take pictures with, here's a screenshot of the box on its own. Use Deluxe Fossiliser figures to beastify this Ultra Magnus figure with epic bone armour accessories!bacem wrote:If that is indeed their base for the dino mode, then i can accept the hand more (not that i mind before). As both hands on the figure are identical, Ultra Magnus can be posed holding the rifle in either hand and is the perfect size for such a chunky robot. Compared to some other versions where it feels forced can't be separated from the white bot I prefer it, but it IS a hassle to keep track of a dozen extra snap on pieces that make up his trailer or Magnus armor. Other than that, everything to love about this figure (the inner robot and armour gimmick, the poseability) is present on the Siege figure as well.

However, Ractonite does seem the most awkward of the Fossilizers so far in terms of proportion in his robot mode. Like the smoother shoulder pylons, differently styled shoulder rockets and even new molded detail on the trailer to imitate the G1 structures. Unfortunately, the Kingdom version is based heavily upon the Siege one rather than being an entirely new model. Most annoying on the cab is that the central panel where the robot head would emerge from is coloured grey instead of white like the rest. Transforming the inner robot into the cab is a straightforward enough process as you'd expect (the transformation layout hasn't really changed that much since the original toy after all), but there are some pretty interesting steps thrown in – such as the way that bumper section pulls moves down the back before flipping around to the front. You push out the main body to expose a slider, and then you slide the cab up from the bottom of the waist to the slider, where it tabs in.
