Unlike the manga, the film takes a minute to add context to the battle between Cursed Spirit and jujutsu sorcerer in Shinjuku. Although it was the first time Geto and Yuta interacted, Sakurai had already worked with Ogata multiple times and praised her work, as he found her portrayal of Yuta to be deep. I wasn’t expecting the parallels between Yuji and Yuta, which really adds an extra layer to the current arc we’re in right now. A novel adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was written by Baraddo Kitaguni and based on a script by Hiroshi Seko, was published on the same day as the film's premiere, December 24, 2021.

Known in Japan as Tōkyō Toritsu Jujutsu Kōtō Senmon Gakkō ( 東京都立呪術高等専門学校, "Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School"). During his first mission with Maki, Yuta successfully summons Rika on his own for the first time to save them from a Cursed Spirit. While the television series was noted for having entertaining fight scenes, the team wanted to improve them.At one point Gojo tells him to channel the cursed energy through the weapons he’s using, and I dunno why I didn’t realize what was being hinted at there. The prequel to Jujutsu Kaisen (2020), where a high schooler gains control of an extremely powerful cursed spirit and gets enrolled in the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School by Jujutsu Sor. After Akutami launched Jujutsu Kaisen in 2018, the series was retitled Jujutsu Kaisen 0—making it a prologue—and released in a single tankōbon volume in December 2018. It helps flesh out some of the backstory for Geto, one of the series' main antagonists, and of course Yuta, who reappears in the manga at a later date, but is by no means mandatory viewing to enjoy the rest of JJK. The nature of Geto's survival confused the audience in the first season of the anime and IGN claimed that fans have to read the main anime series as the manga explains properly the nature of Suguru Geto once Gojo meets him again. Komatsu enjoyed her more comical take as Maki, who often has arguments with Panda and other students, as the character is a year younger than in the television series. Sunghoo Park was also behind the casting of Yuta's voice actor, although Yuta was now a young male voiced by a woman.Ogata's name was mentioned as an example of an actor close to that, and in response to that, the director Sunghoo Park and the anime staff unanimously decided to cast her. It was originally planned to screen at midnight on only 28 screens in 14 theaters in Kyoto, Miyagi, Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, Fukuoka, and Hokkaido. When Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was being written, the editor criticized the handling of Rika, believing a darker figure would be more suitable for the story, such as Oda Nobunaga. Seko commented that, for the movie to fill two hours, he would need to add new material, such as Okkotsu's past and the relationship between Gojo and Geto. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 received an anime film adaptation by MAPPA, which was directed by Sunghoo Park and premiered in Japan in December 2021.

Satoru Gojo spends the majority of his time in the new film sticking his neck out for his new student, but when an army of cursed spirits is unleashed on Japan, he steps up to face a powerful foreign sorcerer named Miguel. If you’re caught up with the manga (or don’t care about spoilers) then hi, and hello, let’s commence with discussing this fantastic prequel. Since their stories are so similar, you’d think Yuta would have a bit of sympathy for Yuji, who’s dealing with a curse that’s out of his control, and who really wants to do right by his friends.

The cast of Volume 0 was written by Gege Akutami as the original inhabitants of the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. The cover artwork features Yuta Okkotsu holding his dear Rika Orimoto in her human form with his left hand and his katana in the other. The original idea behind Rika was that she would become stronger the more time she spends with Yuta. During publication of the monthly series, Akutami had no intention of having his series published in Weekly Shōnen Jump. The goofy and overpowered sensei has been a staple of the anime genre since the second episode of Jujutsu Kaisen dropped in Fall 2020.

He did not find a change in Gojo's characterization from the main Jujutsu Kaisen series, and thought Gojo's mentoring of Yuta similar to that for the other protagonists. Gojo convinces Yuta to enrol, but can he learn enough in time to confront the cursed spirit that haunts him?

Later, when Gojo references Suguru Geto while talking to Yuta, his line is changed to make their relationship seem like nothing more than an old friendship. Men made up 61% of the audience during its opening, with those in the 18–34 age group comprising 75% of ticket sales. It takes place before the events that transpired in season one, featuring a younger Gojo Satoru guiding Yuta on how to control Rika. Cursed Energy and the accumulative energy that forms the intelligence of a Cursed Spirit are two of the most complicated and confusing aspects of Jujutsu Kaisen.
