The other option I've thought of would be to have a slip on / bolt on type affair to fit the log splitter to convert it temporarily to a briquette maker but again we're lucky to have a steady free supply of wood and so haven't yet bothered trying to work anything out.

As for drying time I'm not sure, I made mine and it was a few months before I thought to them - got busy with work and forgot all about them.We had one of those briquet makers many years ago when we used to have free newspapers regularly posted. Paper log briquette makers compress waste paper into rectangular paper ‘logs’ measuring about 21cm long x 9cm wide x 6cm deep which will burn as well as wood for up to an hour or more in a fire-grate or wood-burning stove. The only downside was the mess and the time involved the time it took to make a greenhouse full of paper briquettes I could have logged several tonnes of firewood. Fine sawdust is n suitable for pet bedding I was told, although planer shvings shouldn't pose a problem. Actually the reaultant briquettes were pretty good, they didn't burn as well as say beech or ash but more like birch, gave of plenty of heat and when mixed in with firewood they lasted two winters.

After making the briquettes with the other fillers, there was just enough pulp left to make one more briquette. My parents are both into wood-turning and are members of a local club so I often get small hardwood offcuts but if I could make use of the shavings/dust too it would be nice as I can get it by the bag on their meeting nights. The press is made from 2mm mild steel and is welded together forming a strong and reliable long lasting briquette press. Or watch this guy taking it to a whole new level, adding flour and sawdust to make thicker denser bricks ! However, the 'logs' are much less dense and burn faster than those from the Paper Log Briquette Maker or the Logsaver, so they don't make such good fuel, but they are useful for getting the fire going or for mixing in with larger logs when the fire needs a bit of a boost. The paper/cardboard was shredded, then added to the mixing bins then soaked in water and then stirred with one of those plasterers paddles to create a fine mush. Make your custom signage more outdoor-worthy by choosing bright, head-turning colors and complementing your design with large font sizes and readable font styles. When you are almost to the end of the first length of cardboard, have your helper lay the end of the next length of cardboard on top of the end of the first one by overlapping about five inches. Select any of our ready-made sign templates and personalize them with your business logo, colors, and fonts. That means about once a week I end up with an impressive collection of finely diced lawn all over my sidewalk.

This cool new Paper Log Maker is a heavy duty steel press designed to turn old newspapers, shredded papers and mailings, and bits of cardboard into burnable briquettes for use in fireplaces, fire pits, wood stoves, and more. You can also create simple exit signs and restroom signs to decorative wedding venue directional signs and no smoking signs. You can't put it on an already burning hot fire, you have to let it burn right down before refilling or you get flash back! To use, simply roll and wedge unwanted paper into the Logsaver, tearing to size if needed, using a varied mix of paper and card type - too much shiny stuff and glossy magazines at once is difficult to burn. Hold the log in place with your hand and knee, and have your helper slip one length of the twine under the log at one end. Using our free mixing paddle, you can now mix the paper into a pulp ready for compression in the Multimate MK2 briquette press.

Section of round tube, 4" or so diameter, with holes drilled around the circumference, and then a round flat plate of a diameter to match the inner bore. There are 4 25mm legs secured to the press with a m10 locking bolt which assists in making the press level on uneven ground. Use the logs in the same way is if they were actual logs of wood, so you do need kindling etc to get the fire going.Adding the shavings and dust was tricky to get right I added it one handful at a time made a block added another handful made a block etc - the plan was to get rid of as much sawdust as possible but you do reach the point where the blocks will just fall apart when pressed out. Jumpstart on your design in any custom sign measurement or format you need for your business or home. Then as an experiment I just soaked the newspaper overnight and chucked it in relatively intact - I think TBH it was better as you get more paper/ less water in the former which results in a denser block. We aim to continue the supply of presses bur there will be times when we must restrict the supply so as to keep up with the demand. Repeat until the mould is full, tip out the paper log and leave for at least few weeks, preferably several months, to dry out ready for use.
