Description

Hannah Gold has a really wholesome style of writing along with the traditional illustrations which go alongside the writing as well. But along the way, she discovers much more than she bargained for – a tiny polar bear cub, desperately in need of her help.

I borrowed The Last Bear from the library and read it in preparation for the second installment, and I really enjoyed both! That is just the start of the adventure for them both as they trek across frozen tundra and icy glaciers. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! Her writing is perfect for teaching children about climate change, she doesn't hold back in terms of informing children of the terrible effects but everything is done in a sensitive way and they help encourage the younger generation to get involved in activism and be kinder to animals in general.

She gets picked up by a woman who clearly lives there; she makes it quite clear Ashe thinks April is stupid! April’s determination to find Bear is palpable and at times she probably crosses the line of disregarding advice but her courage and commitment to save Bear takes her on a series of adventures - each showing the impact on global warming on the plight of polar bears. I am beyond excited to go back to Svalbard with bear and A free falling in love with Hannah gold’s first book the last bear I have been anticipating this one so much.

There she arrives in the middle of artic winter, where it’s always dark and the weather is unforgiving. In freezing temperatures, April must navigate the dangerous Arctic terrain and face her deepest fears if she's to save him. When I first requested Hannah Gold’s middle grade novel, Finding Bear, I didn’t realize that it was a sequel to Gold’s first novel The Last Bear in The Last Bear series. She has struggled to make friends at her new school and is mocked for her passion for polar bears and the environment.

Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. April believes that only she can help Bear and so begins an unforgettable journey across frozen tundra and icy glaciers. She hears that a polar bear gets shot and may be injured or dead and worried it’s her fiend Bear her and her Father travel over again to the cold Arctic.

I was lucky enough to finish reading 'The Last Bear' around the time Hannah announced that 'Finding Bear' was due to be released, so I was thrilled! An exhilarating story of love, hope and courage and doing the right thing, no matter how impossible it may seem. Beautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold, Finding Bear is a stunning story of survival, a heartwarming tale of love and shows us how hope is born from the smallest of beginnings. April feels that her father is moving away from her and she is worried that he is moving on without her. You do have to suspend your disbelief somewhat - not just that a polar bear would befriend a girl but also that a male polar bear would care for a cub (which as far as I’m aware they would not) but if you can take that leap of faith with the author you are wonderful rewarded with a tale that will melt your heart.
