Description

I know Abba made some happy, joyful music (Dancing Queen, Waterloo etc) but also I think some of it is actually very sad like the divorced themed Knowing Me Knowing You, The Winner Takes It All, Our Last Summer, Slipping Through My Fingers, etc. Erasure had released a 4 track ABBA cover EP, Abba-esque, in summer 1992 which topped charts around the world showing there was still a strong interest in ABBA's music.

The track listing was similar to the original album, with some added content: a 25-minute documentary produced in 1999, and the 1992 video of "Dancing Queen". The Swedish foursome’s follow-up anthology combines their biggest remaining singles with assorted rarities and alternate mixes. This album was originally going to be more of a rarities/fan request project, that would feature more B-sides and unreleased tracks such as"Just Like That'. Football’s funniest family duo — Jason Kelce from the Philadelphia Eagles and Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs — team up to provide next-level access to life in the league as it unfolds. Listening to this compilation, you might be hit with the realization that you were never really getting the full story - that's certainly how it felt for me, anyway.ABBA fans were pleased when 1992’s multi-million selling ABBA GOLD was followed eight months later by a second CD, MORE ABBA GOLD – More ABBA Hits, featuring hit singles that hadn’t made the cut on the first album, B-sides, album tracks, and the first release of “new” ABBA music in over ten years, the shelved 1982 track ‘I Am The City’.

Also included are several B-sides and album tracks, plus one previously unreleased track; "I Am the City", dating back to ABBA’s final recording sessions in 1982. The album spent 61 (non-consecutive) weeks in the top 10 and topped the British chart 5 times, most recently for two weeks in 2008 following release of the motion picture Mamma Mia!Writing for Pitchfork in 2019, reviewer Jamieson Cox agreed, describing Gold: Greatest Hits as a "refined package with surprising emotional range". ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 at The Dome in Brighton, UK, giving Sweden its first triumph in the contest. Read more about the seller notes “This product has passed our meticulous quality checks and is guaranteed to be in great condition. Just Like That” would only be released as a small snippet on “ ABBA Undeleted”, the last track on the Thank You for the Music box set.
