About this deal

They snip a 'U' shape in the paper meaning it doesn't rip as easily as notching by hand creating 'V' shapes. Il libro è in inglese ma è scorrevole e molto ben comprensibile una volta imparati i vocaboli tecnici di base. It is a little technical - but if you start right at the beginning and take your time - it makes you really understand the craft of pattern drafting and using a basic block to tailor to individual sizes and allow for 'problem areas' - e. However, the great expansion of casual wear, cut in jersey or stretch fabrics, has led to the growth of ′flat cutting′ with no darting to create the shape and this edition devotes a whole section to this type of cutting. other linedrawings of basic dress design with technical directions for sizing, including methods for up-, and downsizing fitting home made clothing, complarative tables in text accompanied by technical descriptions for general sizing, incl.

The size charts of body measurements have been revised, reflecting the changing shape of women′s bodies.New for this edition is the inclusion of colour to help students recognize the different sections of the book and to enhance the garment illustrations? This book offers a range of good basic blocks, an introduction to the basic principles of pattern cutting and examples of their application into garments. Man bekommt gute Infos über die einzelnen Bereiche, auf was zu achten ist, weshalb man dies und das macht usw. This third edition remains true to the original concept, offering a range of good basic blocks with an introduction to the basic principles of pattern cutting.

No markings, blind stamped ownership seal to corner of half-title, Near Fine; no dust jacket as published. You do need some experience of garment construction to use this book as there are no instructions on how to make up the garment, or else you need someone who is familiar with pattern drafting and construction as a "phone a friend". It's wide enough for most creations (750mm wide) and if it's not quite wide enough I just stick two pieces together.I've also found it's super helpful to mark on your waist, hip, knee and elbow lines on each piece as these will come in handy if you're adjusting the fit later on; this means making sure you mark them on your block patterns too. Colour illustrations also offer a new dimension to the updated material on computer–aided design and the CAD chapter now provides students with a clear guide to the technology. You can use the industry standards or your own measurements and it deals with sloping shoulders and all the weird forms we take up over years!

This fifth edition continues to offer an introduction to the principles of pattern cutting, with a range of good basic blocks and examples of their application to garments. It is ideal for someone with some experience of pattern cutting or someone who is very familiar with using sewing patterns but it's also a great book for a beginner to use in collaboration to learning how to draft sewing patterns. It isn't so suitable if you don't have any experience as it *is* a technical book and it does look daunting on first opening because of all the detail inside. Pattern cutting paper - I tend just to use a roll of recycled brown paper at the moment by RUSPEPA which you can find here .

Pattern Cutting Ruler - I use the Pattern Master ruler because I find the size covers most outfits I make. Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear was first published in 1975 to provide a straightforward introductory book for students beginning courses in flat pattern cutting. The joining the dots process of recreating these blocks, allows one to understand the building blocks (no pun intended) of a pattern. However, the great expansion of casual wear, cut in jersey or stretch fabrics, has led to the growth of 'flat cutting' with no darting to create the shape and this edition devotes a whole section to this type of cutting. I draw lines down my side and take measurements seperately for back and front and use those to draft the front and back seperately as opposed to using the full bust, waist and hip measurements as in the book.
