If Chloe tried to ghost like this, there’d be a militia of Shakespeare gays kicking down every door in False Beach.

It’s hard to watch [Alex] fall in love with Henry without falling in love a bit yourself with them, and with this brilliant, wonderful book. I am currently in the last few pages and I am finding this to be close to the level of the Size 12 series by Meg Cabot. S. president and the Prince of Wales turns into a whirlwind romance in this charming story about true love. I understand why people compared it to what is an absolute masterpiece, but it made my expectations extremely high.Compulsively readable, laugh out loud funny and full of heart, McQuiston’s YA debut is a stunning success. A] fireworks in the sky, glitter in your hair joyous royal romance that you’ll want to fall head over heels in love with again and again. Instead, McQuiston started making excuses and reasons why Shara really isn’t bad and that was completely disappointing. She snatches the envelope up and opens it with one finger, taking out a piece of that pink monogrammed stationery, and reads Shara’s flawless cursive out loud.

Honestamente, este fue un libro que se me hizo cuesta arriba, que no pude disfrutar en ningún momento porque todo era repetitivo, ya se había visto y ningún plot twist estuvo bien construido. Their relationship was really complicated, and I enjoyed the slow progression of them finding their way back together. I kept waiting for her moment, for growth, or something that would cement Chloe into my heart and mind, but it never happened. In a year when LGBTQ youth and their families have faced intense political attacks, this book feels like a warm embrace. Homophobia, Religious Bigotry, Sexism, Swearing, Classism, Racism, Infidelity, Toxic Relationships, etc.I Kissed Shara Wheeler is a renewing coming-of-age story surrounding the growth of queer communities in adversity and the friendships that develop during the critical points of our lives. The book breathlessly shows this cast taking the next steps into adulthood, affirming or discovering their queerness across the full spectrum of the LGBTQ+ umbrella against the backdrop of an unaccepting small town, while also showing that people do not have to behave perfectly to be loved. Chloe’s evolution throughout the story prevents the concept from feeling repetitive when it otherwise could have. I'm also so happy that there are more and more books like this with MC's that are queer and not just the side characters. And one of them isn’t even on page for most of the book, let alone having any kind of interaction with each other!

Chloe was not a poorly written character, but I didn’t think she was the right fit to star in this particular book. The three have nothing in common except Shara and the annoyingly cryptic notes she left behind, but together they must untangle Shara's trail of clues and find her. It all plays out like the updated ‘22 version of 90s high school movies, with all the fluttery feelings and dramatic moments, but make it queer and way cooler. The big, shocked green eyes, the theatrical gasp, the dawning realization that her little stunt for attention isn’t going to work out the way she planned because Chloe is a hot genius who can’t be fooled. day in and day out, i suffer my fate of constant unpopular opinions, doomed to desperately seek a seat at the proverbial cool kids' table, disliking one young adult crossover bestseller after another. It's a love story starring two brilliant, ruthless queer girls who fight for what they want, and woe to any unjust authorities that stand in their way. The most impressive accomplishment in McQuiston's first YA book is complicated Shara Wheeler herself.

it’s the friends, the teachers who turn out to be allies, and how we all kept each other safe, kept each other true. I’m as far removed from the experience of a queer high school student in the Bible Belt as it is possible to be, but I do know something about conservative societies, and the way the author tells the story makes it relatable to everyone. this story takes place in a christian high school, so there’s homophobia and religious trauma but it’s important to this story, exists and is told for a reason.
