It’s really hard to choose the right superlatives to describe her vocal ability, but she has the best aspects of several singers; she is extremely confident, dynamic and has the attitude. I Miss The Misery” – It takes all of 5 seconds for anyone to immediately get caught on to this track. I was extremely proud of Halestorm when we released it, and I still love it, but I think I was using mostly one musical technique throughout,” explains frontwoman Lzzy Hale. The Strange Case Of…’ opens with “Love Bites (So Do I)”, which, in my opinion, is up there with the best hard rock songs; it’s loud, energetic and full of attitude. Lzzy Hale is a godess of rock with one of the best rock voices ever, but each member contributes to the power of this album. The song is very much a love song, based on its lyrics of the age-old story of a girl who is only truly happy when she’s by her man, just told in a very original and modern style.

This track is a rather slow song, featuring a full rock bands worth of instruments, just not as distorted as the previous four songs. The bipolar tone and the singularity of Lzzy’s voice ( alto) cause our attention to wander between the instruments’ sharpness and the vocals’ turmoil. It is a soft song, acoustic song, not quite a ballad, but sounding like it would have been released in the 90’s when bands like Cranberries and Third Eye Blind were releasing hits. In interviews about the album, Hale noted that the album was heavier than their previous album, but was significantly closer to the sound of them live. It is very important that I note this is a rare album, and first of this blog, that gets a 10 out of 10 for its diversity and recognition and respect in the rock community. It’s almost incredible seeing the look on peoples faces as soon as Lzzy starts shouting out the inevitably addicting chant that is impossible not to fall in love with. I was eagerly anticipating this album after thoroughly enjoying their debut, lead single "Love Bites (So Do I) is the heaviest and most uptempo track they've made, close to being a heavy metal track. Always in my opinion it's another song that indirectly gives a message that you don’t have to care about what others think of you and you got to do the thing you want no matter what! It sounds like they have a Theremin in the background which is a brilliant touch (Theremins were often used in old horror films). It’s a very catchy tune, not so much an alternative hard rock track, but more like a 70’s blues-based hard rock song.Even though we are used to Lzzy playing the guitar in most songs in "Break In" she plays the piano and in Carnival Of Madness Amy Lee sang with her on stage cause she loved the back vocals of the song and she wanted to sing it! m., after enduring a personal setback, she wrote a bare, vulnerable sounding song and recorded it on her cell phone.

The album then gets right back in to heavy swing with Daughters of Darkness; a song partially inspired by the late great Ronnie James Dio and his song Fearfrom Black Sabbath’s The Devil You Know. The Deluxe Edition has three extra tracks; “Don’t Know To Stop”, “Private Parts” (which features James Michael of Sixx:A. So suddenly this predicament with having this record that had a split personality was about having a split personality.I Miss The Misery’ and ‘Freak Like Me’ continue the bands rocking ways complete with ‘Oh oh ohs’, ‘Heys! The first is an energetic song which would also be a good closing song, but then you have a great duet, then finish off with a mid-tempo track which is a brilliant closer. So these days, it may seem a little out of character to get into Halestorm, and this album has proven itself to be a great intro. It is impossible not to instantly get in to the song, thanks to Arejay Hale’s pounding drum beat and the tough-as-nails guitar riff that follows.
