Now that some of the Thousand Year Blood War has been animated, plus I recently rematched the anime openings and wanted to get back into the series again, so I decided to rematch the anime, then I decided to read the manga instead since I have the manga series and I’m glad I did.

The art is amazing, too - I especially liked the odd blank page with just a small illustration that peppered the book.

It’s 75 volumes in total and if you get the 3-in-1 versions (like my library did), it’s around 25 books.

Now that I've gotten into it, well, I'm sorry I didn't pay more attention earlier- there's a hell of a lot of manga to get through! Orhime also was a weird character as she had quite a large role in the manga but after her hollow encounter she seemed a bit redundant but kept reappearing just to remind the reader that everyone lusts after her apart from Ichigo? When I realized that I was watching the later episodes, I got on my computer to see if I could watch what I missed, so I did and by the time I was caught up, I wanted more, so I looked for the subbed one but didn’t enjoy it as much as when I watched those again in English when those were available because Johnny Young Bosch is Ichigo, his voice suits him perfectly, just like Vic Mignogna’s voice suits Edward Elric perfectly. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits, and along with Rukia--who is slowly regaining her powers--it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

Bleach has enjoyed such long-running success due in part to the huge cast and elaborate character development. There are so many things that were not in the anime, like Orihime and Tatsuki talking about Orihime’s crush on Ichigo and Tatsuki giving her suggestions on how she could get together with him. I also thought Ichigo and Rukia's relationship was always well balanced and of course the begining is classic.

Recommend for all manga readers of appropriate age (it does get pretty violent at times) and anyone trying to dip their toes into these kinds of books.

While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. He sacrifices everything to protect those he loves, and he even goes out of his way to save the lives of innocent strangers too. Most of the background characters get a pretty decent fleshing out too (although there are some that could be expanded upon.
