So this isn't a book about Rob finding out he's gay it's more of a book where Rob is a millionaire dipshit who learns Freud was right. The committee that runs the colony from where it happens is also very nicely depicted in that it's harsh but seems meticulously fair; large sums of money are doled out to successful pilots. The trouble is that scientists cannot figure out the big picture on how or why the ships go where they go and whether or not they will come back.No idea how to refuel, no idea how far/long it will take or if they have locked in the coordinates to a supernova.

Maybe it had to do with the protocol from the sessions with the shrink bot or with the MC being a crybaby over everything (he actually said something along the lines of "you don't know what it's like having my kind of life" despite him being filthy rich and not needing to worry about food or even life-prolonging medical care *snorts*). Describes a book or dust jacket that has the complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. Suffice it to say that he was a douchebag on Gateway ( no, his suppressed homosexuality does not excuse him beating another human being) but one of his trips, despite making him rich, really messes with his mind. People use their life savings to go there, learn about planetary exploration, jump in a ship and take their chance to see what fantastic alien treasures they may find . On his third trip, the Gateway Corporation tries something different – sending two armored fives, one slightly behind the other, to the same destination, one rejected by most ships' computers; each crewmember is promised a million-dollar bonus.Gateway is an asteroid in our Solar System that was hollowed out and made into a base of operations by the mysterious ancient alien race known as the "Heechee".
