This book seems to fit a new slant - how charisma isn't so much an innate ability but one that can be turned on almost at will with 'internal skill'; it is a distillation of the author's many years of practical business advice to high-ranking CEOs and leadership teams in Fortune 500 companies demystifying behaviours that project presence, power and warmth. Morgan Ames's insightful and immensely readable analysis of the One Laptop per Child initiative reveals how bold-faced ignorance results in reifying privilege and power rather than addressing the needs of learners and teachers. Easily my favorite portion of the entire book was the way the author presented the concept of Visualization in Chapter 5 (Creating Charismatic Mental States). Jeanne Ryan penned an absolutely thrilling and heartbreaking and riveting story with a heroine who is incredibly sympathetic and smart and – with the help of Charisma – determined.

Being fully present in conversation requires listening to others and not listening to entangled thoughts of the past, thoughts of the future, or unnecessary and unruly thoughts. When you follow your purpose, despite any challenges or adversity, your dreams will appear in ways beyond your expectations and others will admire you for living your fairytale life on your terms…and this makes you charismatic.
