Some say that the dragon is amazing and that it can be used by itself or alongside other Lego Castle pieces. If you’re just interested in getting Castle parts and are more keen on the whole good knights vs bad knights thing, you’d be better of waiting and doubling your budget and splashing out on the King’s Castle itself. I love LEGO wizards so I had to get it, but I was very afraid that I was wasting my money on everything that was not the wizard figure. It’s pretty hefty looking so it doesn’t immediately strike you as an afterthought to bump up the piece count. While Dragon Mountain has been slightly underperforming yearly growth when compared to other sets in Castle, at an average annual growth rate of around 8%, this set is still a decent investment for most LEGO collector portfolios.

The fourth knight is weak because he has that ho hum plane look to him, but the queen has a crown and we put the gold spear with her for a weapon. I've tried that with a hat the other day and ruined a perfect lego head because its upper half simply melted away under the hot clay.

I don't know if it's the way all the bright colors were used, or the small building with the big prefab dragon, or the huge bright yellow banner and trim. The bottom bit with the interior is nice looking and well constructed and the very top bit with the crystal is nice, but overall, it's too small. But again, it is even better if you have more Kingdom sets to combine or a small band of knight to deal with the dragon. Next up will be the Royal Knights and we will definatly see that LEGO had yet to go downhill (though I have no idea what to do when I start getting into the early 2000s for my reviews as alot of the sets then are less than great). The problem is that the clay is extremely soft and kinda sticky; when trying to model it around a minifig head, it will always stick to the figure itself and if I try to get it off, it tends to deform and even break. Le produit vaut son prix quand on voit avec quelle qualité de matériau et de précision il est construit.

People often compare this theme to Kingdoms, and to illustrate my point, I shall do so as well by comparing it to 7947 Prison Tower Rescue, the Kingdoms set that involved two good guys trying to rescue a princess from two bad guys in their evil tower. That shot of the Kingdoms stronghold next to the Dragon Mountain is one of the single most convincing images I've ever seen on this site and SPEAKS VOLUMES. With the big gate, impressive height, and cohesive colors and design, it looks the part of the evil lair. I observed that Black Knight Castle (6085-86) use the brown wheel to open and close the drawbridge; Royal Knight and Lion Knight (Crusader) (6090, 6080) use same brick (brick no. But there are loads of other features as well; a wizard, a damsel in distress, a working catapult, a prison cell, a treasure, magical potions, a hidden wizard lair a dragon knight and two brave king knights.

LEGO® is a trademark of the LEGO® Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorise or endorse this site. It doesn't help that the set's mass is divided between the tower part and the dragon platform section, which spreads out the parts and increases the appearance of smallness. There are some nice parts and it is nice to see a furnished castle set, but the design is very disappointing.

Take the money you would have spent on this set and go use it on The Gatehouse Raid and Forest Ambush instead, or if you want a good evil tower, go Bricklink 7947. I saw some helpful stuff on eurobricks so I will give it a whirl soon, if you have any images of your acomplishments I would love to see them. Altering the inside of the jaw to accommodate the flame piece would be brilliant, so I’m quite perplexed as to why they didn’t opt for that solution. Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique? My husband and I both enjoyed Legos as children and decided to start collecting and building as adults.

This Castle set is from the aftermath of those glorious releases, but combines very well with our other knights and Kingdoms sets. They also mention that the three-dimensional work of art is a fantastic addition to any castle-themed collection.
