To create the book jacket I cut out two long rectangles of fabric, sized to my copy of the novelization (Plus some extra fabric to account for a seam allowance). She is credited in the film as Cheryl McFadden (her first name), as she usually is when being credited for choreography work. Jim Henson, Brian Henson, Brian Froud, Jennifer Connelly, and the animatronic creature Ludo were all present to support the film.

Now for the new content - while the Froud sketches are wonderful they are inescapably familiar (although the character concepts are new, I’ve seen many other goblin sketches before in Goblins of the Labyrinth and elsewhere); by contrast, the Henson notes are completely fresh and have really captured my imagination. I always enjoyed their Harry Potter Christmas builds despite never getting into the series, it was fun just seeing what they would come up with.Jim Henson also said that “The movie is about a person at the point of changing from being a child to a woman. However, the decision was ultimately taken to avoid making a direct sequel and instead produce a fantasy film with a similar atmosphere. Despite its poor performance at the American box office, Labyrinth was a success on home video and later on DVD. I will absolutely never read this book again, but I’ll keep it for the drawings and for the facsimile pages of Jim’s diary.

The set of the Goblin City was built on Stage 6 at Elstree Studios near London and required the largest panoramic back cloth ever made.In 2018, the two were compiled as Labyrinth: Shortcuts, which also included two new stories, [140] and another three-story collection was released as Labyrinth: Under the Spell. They turn the nature and purpose of Sarah’s story into something it was never supposed to be, and it breaks my heart that the Henson estate allowed this novelization out into the world with some of the film’s content changed in the way Smith chose to change it.
