A Krone style punch down tool is a small hand tool used by telecommunication and network technicians. The tool inserts and crops wires simultaneously and is complete with integral extraction tool and stop clip. These low-cost tools are more time-consuming for making reliable connections, and can cause muscle fatigue when used for large numbers of connections. It is used for inserting wire into insulation-displacement connectors (IDC) on punch down blocks, patch panels, keystone modules, and surface mount boxes (also known as biscuit jacks). Tool blades without the sharp edge are also available; these are used for continuing a wire through a slotted post to make connections with another slotted post (" daisy-chained" wiring). Once the required pressure is reached, an internal spring is triggered, and the blade pushes the wire into the slot, simultaneously cutting the insulation and securing the wire. A punch tool is used by pressing the sharp end on the workpiece and then striking the blunt end with a hammer or mallet. We have a vast array of punch-down tools like the Krone Type IDC Punch-Down Tool, the TE (Krone) 2A Insertion Tool with Sensor, the 110 Adjustable Impact Punch-Down Tool, and many more.
