Description

The New Reading 360 series is designed to provide a solid literary foundation for infants and build on previous literacy knowledge for juniors. Always read labels, warnings, directions and other information provided with the product before using it.

Not to hijack this thread but just to say Catherine I have had the same problem, the books my son (y2) is capable of reading at school are in no way suitable age wise and don't interest him, but the books that are written for his age are far too easy for him. I've bought the Ladybird Read It Yourself series Levels 3 and 4 (lots of easy to read fairy stories) in the hopes that it ignites even a tiny spark of pleasure for DD1. End result a child who can read words, but has no idea what the story is, or what the text is actually telling them. Ds1 did all the red ones initially in reception ('Mud', 'Snake', 'The Wind and the Sun' etc) but they haven't done any of the other levels of JP because I think they do go on beyond red books. i think boys tend to be a bit more behind on the reading so i would really not worry i sure he good at other tings other than just reading. The most interesting ones we've had are the Literacy Land Info Trail ones here - they have some quite hard words in and they are full of great info.

Unfortunately so many parents do not seem to accept this and insist on plowing on through the stages. Scheme books are great for building confidence but in terms of building enjoyment and a passion for reading, they are bloody useless. jnygren (10 works), jlterps (9), RosannaRoot (9), tnlzzy22 (9), dfumccl (8), giftsoftrees (7), tarpfarmer (7), jrbwalley (6), DianeVogan (6), sultrydiva (6), collector2 (6), shadowelf76 (5), Merryann (5), bradleybunch (5), jlshall (5), kmnhhin (5), somerfugl (5), rlfaul (4), Sbscs (4), Annica2001 (4), ginnyrstewart (4), weezersmum (4), jtsarnold (4), easanborn717 (4), seventhheaven (4) , sdbookhound (4), Psierut (4), missinpa (3), sfninerfan7 (3), 3jillsmom (3), Jennifer_Perfect (3), Library-man (3), SJPII (3), LHALibrary (3), lkutcher (3), TYSully (3), jgoose (3), ksuboohi (3), kmctigue2002 (3), stmarkschool (3), pixilated_momma (3), CarlSandburgLibrary (3), lnewlun (3), czechmate (3), True54Blue (3), _Celeste_ (3), anaxila (3), OCMS (2), Conniewhee (2), BanffSB (2), chiefmatthews (2), Uptonfamily99 (2), MirandaBaxter (2), hardenr (2), LOHLibrary (2), Scraphorse (2), cshistorical (2), t_l_wall (2), Megan_P (2), Timothy.

We're going to stick with them Mon-Friday but throw in the towel for weekend reading homework and use a 'parallel' reading book. There are so many wonderful ones out there but as soon as they get to school, the schemes take over.

Yes reading tests are often tests of vocabulary or in the case of the new phonics test, how to read made up phonetic ‘words’. We are really lucky at the DSs' school, in that once they can read, they're allowed to take books in from home rather than the school's 'free readers' (which are a rather uninspiring selection).By using LibraryThing you acknowledge that you have read and understand our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Products that contain small parts may pose a choking hazard and should not be used by children under 3. I’ve tried to make sense of some of the different schemes in one table here, so parents can see how the schemes relate. So whilst she certainly isn't struggling with her reading, it could be so much more interesting and fun for her.

To the best of my knowledge it is accurate, but I would welcome feedback if you think it could be improved or added to. No, according to her teacher at our last parent-teacher meeting, DD1 is generally floating around in the second quartile. If you’ve already done that, your item hasn’t arrived, or it’s not as described, you can report that to Etsy by opening a case. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. That was May 2012 and there may have been changes or updates later in 2012 and 2013, so I’m not sure I’d want you to take it as gospel.

We started off with Biff, Kipper and Co and it says everything that I look back to those days with fond memories .
