The Samsung HW-Q990B and the Samsung HW-Q930B are the top-of-the-line offerings from Samsung's 2022 lineup—and you can't go wrong with either bar. This clearly points to a less powerful front sound than you get with the larger system – though at the same time it raises the prospect of a more balanced, cohesive full surround sound stage than you might well have got if the Q930B had partnered more or less the same front soundbar element found in the Q990B package with the less powerful new rears.

The Q930B has the power to portray sound transitions from across, through or over the 360-degree sound space it creates with great conviction, and the sound stage is big enough to fill at least a medium-sized room. This continually monitors and tweaks the way the Q990B’s subwoofer sounds in relation to the rest of the soundstage, so hopefully we won’t find the Q930B’s bass element suffering too heavily from its absence. The HW-Q930B gets off to a great start as all four of its separate components find each other and connect together instantly and effortlessly, as soon as you turn the system on.
